When the dust settles ....

First of all, I think Pochettino is a wise appointment and I will explain why. Until now, we have always signed players who are the finished articlr, and despite their many flaws and failing, I believe Boehly and co have done one smart thing, buy young players who need to be finished and coached, The romanticism that Potter was the man was just American folly, poor man was just out of his depth from the first day. Pochettino has far more experience, and I believe that with the players at his disposal, he can make us into a decent team - just as he did at Espanyol, Southampton and Spurs.

We obviously have to get rid of the deadwood - Mendy has to go for sure, and maybe Kepa too which would obviously mean a new keeper. That's a key position and instead of just settling for Onana - we should be looking to find a top keeper.

James, Chilwell, Chalobah, Badiashile, Fofana, Hall and Colwill give us a lot of defensive options - and Malo Gusto is joining up too. That means that Koulibaly, Cucurella, Azpilicueta and Silva should be offloaded. Like Silva, but he's being caught out on too many occasions recently.

We may be short in midfield though, as I would suggest that apart from Enzo and Kante, the likes of Gallagher, RLC, Kovacic are not up to scratch. We will need a decent passer of the ball who has more verticality.

On the wings, we are more than well served, but hopefully we will never see Ziyech in a Chelsea shirt again. I also think that Pulisic's Chelsea career has come to an end. Between Mudryk, Sterling, Madueke and Datro Fofana, we have some decent options out wide. I also think that Mount should be kept and played in his natural position in attacking central midfield, with Chukwemeka as cover. I wouldn't mind seeing Havertz go.

In attack, we have Lukaku, who I think can do a good job in a system that favours his style of play. Datro Fofana and we have apparently agreed to signed Nkuku as well.

There is a great deal of talent in that squad which needs to be coached and managed - something Poch does well. We should also recoup a lot of money from player sales to do some cosmetic surgery if needed. We aren't going to challenge for the title next year, but it is a squad which has future promise.

Considering what these guys seem to want Pochettino is the safe choice. He doesn't strike me as a Chelsea manager per say (and that's nothing to do with the Spurs connection), but he's got enough credibility to pass for me - reminds me of Sarri in that way who I personally liked. The AVB's/Potter's, i.e. total punts, we can't do.

The squad looks decent for him assuming he'd try to replicate his Spurs 4231/5221. Needs better depth in the full backs & a proper striker but the defence & midfield look alright for a starting point & there's enough wingers for him to take his pick. Should be good

Also helpful that tactically he's quite similar to Tuchel (when he was at Dortmund at least) but isn't a much of a hothead, so Boehly can rest his little weak soul that Poch won't be mean to him

We just need to give any manager a chance. If we get off to a dodgy start the fans need to hold back on there calls for a sacking. Poch has said himself it could take 2 years before we challenge. He will be backed with sign8ngs if he needs them unlike at previous positions. Would I have chosen him? Not necessarily but I'll support him as he will be the main man.
