We get what we deserve. Some fans looked down on Europa league and Conference league yet we moan when others win them.

If West Ham will conference league some fans will lie to themselves that it doesn't matter.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh come on.

I'm happy to agree that Jose, Lamela, Gill is worth reflecting on but West Ham reaching the Goat Herders cup final is minimum requirement.

I was watching some of the first leg and the commentator said that what West Ham want for Rice is 4 times AZ annual turnover and they are in the Semi!!?

If the English participants take it seriously (which of course we won't) reaching the final should be like shooting fish in a barrel.

You only saying this to make yourself feel better about our mediocrity. You saw how the players celebrated Audi Cup and yet you think the 3rd available trophy in Europe isn't a big deal.

Whats higher.. Community shield or Uefa Conference in your view?

I don't feel good about our mediocrity at all but it doesn't mean that I think the Uefa C is a worthwhile competition.

West Ham have had a shocking season and are only going to avoid relegation by a few points yet they've reached the final with ease.

I'm not having a pop at them but the standard of the competition is very low and any Prem club who takes it seriously should make the final.

Could Guardiola get Roma to successive European finals? I doubt it, he is a chequebook manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I despise City and everything they stand for.

That’s said you can’t deny Pep Guardiola is a truly exceptional coach. His players would run through walls for him, applying theirs coaches beautiful approach to the game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exceptional. He has only managed players that were already hoovering up trophies!!

Did Leicester not take it seriously when they lost to Roma last year?

Would West Ham have been guaranteed a place in the final if they'd come up against Villarreal or Lazio?

How about actually showing up for something for once instead of mouthing off about competitions being below your station?

Or is it that below your sheen of misplaced and unsubstantiated arrogance, there is actually a deep-seated fear of humiliation if your team does actually get down in the muck only to end up falling short again?

I was fine with the cl and Europa and think this is a competition that nobody needed or wanted, most folk I know who support lower divisional teams feel exactly the same way so it's not an elitist opinion.

Maybe we should have a fourth European competition for teams that feel excluded?

Did you also used to moan when there was a European Cup Winners' Cup? Did you moan when the old UEFA Cup allowed teams to face each other in European competition? Because those used to be the second and third level competitions, and everyone loved them.

Were you equally dismissive of them every single time you didn't win the English First Division, or did you celebrate being in them and celebrate even more when they were won?

I can tell you, as a Madrid fan, that I couldn't have felt prouder when we won consecutive UEFA Cups back in the '80s, even if the return leg at the Bernabéu against Spurs was one of the dullest matches I ever recall attending.

It's got nothing whatsoever to do with 'feeling' excluded, and everything to do with accepting whatever level you find yourself in as a result of your prior performances and competing to the best of your ability at the level at which you've earned the right to do so.

It's as if a team that's relegated into the third tier decides they're better than that, so they won't even bother having a go. You're only as good as you've proved you are on the pitch.

That's a lazy comparison.

There were no group stages in those competitions, so far Less teams. If the cl went back to just champs and the holders your argument would be fine but instead the conference just sweeps up the dregs and provides an unnecessary and substandard competition.

So what's the great hassle about having a group stage if the opposition is so weak? Give the kids and the second string a run out, they could do with the match time.

It's good enough for Roma and Mourinho, with all his European and domestic titles, to take seriously, yet somehow still beneath Paul Bawron, Spurs fan. Right you are.

OK it's clear we are not going to agree as I would much sooner not be in Europe than have to compete in it.

When we've got the 5th place Moldovan finishers at the new Lane in front of 15k on a Thurs night you may feel differently.
