Greetings and salutations!
Hope you're all well and able to enjoy the beautiful sunshine in your part of the world.
Creating this article for all confirmed summer transfers relating to Derby County, players linked to Derby ( and there seems to be quite a lot of them!) and football gossip.
Haydon Roberts (free) - Rumours are intensifying that he's due to join Bristol City today.
McGoldrick (free) - With a contract offer on the table and not yet signed our top goalscorer for last season is well within his right to look at all offers before signing where he considers best. Into the twilight of his career would he want to play in front of 25k+ plus fans at home to Derby or in front of boyhood team Notts County who have table a bid too?
Given his age I wouldn't mind losing him too much if we can get a quality replacement but if we were to lose Roberts and McGoldrick from the spine of our team that would disappointing.

He did ok for us Ken, but he's 33. I was hoping for a young quick striker in the Kevin Hector mould.
We will not do too well if we don't get a 20 goal man cuz I don't think Colly or Wash are prolific scorers.
PS I think I've been listening to Pauly Warney too much.

We'll only get a younger striker if someone crops up on the free market or ,more obvious I know , once the loan market opens.
PW has recognised Waghorn is somewhere in between a No. 9 & a No.10 (possibly a polite way of saying he's not really either!) I think it's evident that we're not getting first or possibly even second choice targets when it comes to CF due to wages offered elsewhere for example which is why we're looking at Waghorn.
I doubt he'd have been on the list of targets, due to the testimonial PW liked what he saw and called him in. Here's hoping he can do a job.
Conversation earlier today and the name Dwight Gayle was dropped. Again not in the age bracket we possibly desire and injuries have caught up with him a little bit but if he's fit I wouldn't mind him on a season as he could certainly do the job at this level. (Rumour)

VC and Desi, agree with both of you. Waghorn may be ok to bring off the bench or if we have injuries, but he was never prolific in his last spell with us.
I’d like to see an hungry young pacy forward but as Desi suggested, the reality is that will have to be a loan and most loan strikers are unlikely to be prolific.

Michael Smith from Sheffield Wednesday apparently is a target

Cheers UT.
I like the sound of him from what I've read. Plays for Sheff Wednesday, 31 years old with a strong goal scoring record at L1 level having scored 17 last season.
Previously with Rotherham so will understand PW's style of play and what's demanded of him and he scored 19 that season.
Due to Wednesday's change of management Smith is considered surplus to requirements and wouldn't cost too much. Considered a target man either to complete with Collins (I hope so) or to replace him (hope not) given the rumours that Shrewsbury are interested in Collins.
