Is there a right way to win?

For those who don’t like cricket there was a controversial moment during Australias routine win over England when the Australian wicket keeper saw Bairstow outside of his wicket and stumped him.

Predictably the old geezers in the MCC acted like kids and abused the Australians in the interval but all we were guilty of was seeing an opportunity and taking it. At United alone we’ve seen similar things happen - most notably Nani’s goal against Spurs in 2009, Carroll’s over the goal line scoop against Spurs and Rooneys dive against Arsenal in #49.

Cheating is one thing - Henry’s handball against France, Maradona’s against England etc. But is being clever and aware a crime? Or just the price you pay for being a serial winner? Are there lines that shouldn’t be crossed if it’s in the rules?

It literally is whattaboutery

I've not decided it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

By your weird logic anything on this forum can be brushed off a whataboutery if it’s used in a debate. The term ‘whataboutery’ is just a lazy brush off.

It's not my fault that's what the word means Robb, and it's certainly not my fault that you're doing it.

At the end of the day we just have different values but you're not alone in that.

Roy Whiting, Jimmy Saville, Rolph Harris, and I could go on, all, just like you, have different values to me.

Absolutely nothing wrong with using whatabout in debate. It's both normal and valid.

Depends on the extreme of the whataboutery you want to use and on how foolish you wish to look.

On this thread Roob has used daft whataboutery because he knows how bad this looks on the Aussies.

Looks bad to you, however the vast majority of ex pros and journos out there are on the Australians side. It looks worse on Bairstow especially as it’s transpired Bairstow ..

1) said he would have done the same to the Australians
2) has had videos come out showing he’s done worse to other batsmen

Just a storm in a teacup which has triggered England fans but people who’ve played the game think Bairstow was dopey and should really have stayed in his crease.

FFS can we just move on from this please? There are no winners or losers here. Apart from Australia, they won. And England, they lost.

Very true Barry. You’re the only Bazball that’s successful.
