Conor Gallagher

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/jul/12/football-transfer-rumours-tottenham-to-bring-in-chelseas-conor-gallagher

Seem a couple of bits in the press about Spurs being interested in Gallagher

Of course we still need 2 CBs BUT a high energy/ high pressing midfield 3 of Bissouma, Gallagher & Maddison with Kane, Son & Kulu up top would be pretty decent

Would be delighted to see PEH to go to Athletico Madrid (Perfect for Simeone's dour football), He's better than Skipp and there are still question marks about Bent's recovery

Would like this one to happen

I think in a vacuum moving from Højbjerg go Gallagher makes sense, but we can definitely do better. I think he'll end up feeling similar to Højbjerg in terms of just not being good enough technically
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's sort of like Hojbjerg but starting a bit higher up the pitch, isn't he. Not much cop technically but turns out good numbers
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yeah works hard and scores goals without offering much in possession

I just think we should generally be avoiding that profile. we need to add technical players to this squad at every chance we get

I hate the destroyer role, craaap ballers. Xavi/iniesta/Busquets - won the lot, not a destroyer in sight

Dunno if I'd call Gallagher a destroyer just cos he works hard out of possession. The Barca team you mention were relentless at pressing.

I'd say Gallagher is a good old-fashioned attacking midfielder with a comparatively low level of passing ability but comparatively high level of off-the-ball movement

he's like a mid table version of peak Dele

wijnaldum another good comparison

He’s a more refined Lee Cattermole.

Wijnaldum was a press-resistant player who was difficult to get the ball from, even though he played safe

Gallagher is simply a typical English box to box CM, whose strengths are more off the ball than on it
