Kane - affect on squad - captain ?

It's the day and news we've all been dreading, I think most of us feel gutted this day has come.

How do we think this will affect the squad ? We've look rejuvenated in pre season with players enjoying themselves in the new style with goals aplenty.

The concerns for me are the affect on son, madders etc.? A lot of sons goals have come from the understanding with Son. The link up with madders in the shaktar game was very promising. Do expectations now lessen for the season, how will it affect us in terms of motivation and recruiting players now that our best player is gone ?

Also, who captains the side. With captain and vice captain no longer present and a questionmark over hjobergs future we look short on leaders to me.

What I will say is if Harry doesn’t go, it will reflect the impression Ange will have made on him. Which will bode well for Spurs. Even is he was to leave next summer for nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nah bollox. It reflects that Kane wants trophies and we have failed to give him that. Nothing to do with Ange
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If he doesn’t go it will be because of Trophies?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The 2 things are no mutually exclusive. He can be very impressed with Ange but see that SPurs in the PL are some way off challenging & we are out of the UCL and be aware he has one last contract to fill his trophy cabinet and isnt prepared to wait to see if that can happen at Spurs

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you’ve picked me up wrong. What I am saying is Kane was mooted to be open to Bayern earlier in the summer. If he now turns down the move, it will be because of the impression Ange has made on him. Which will bode well for Spurs’ long term success. Even if Harry leaves next summer for nothing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But I also take your point him moving doesn’t mean he wasn’t impressed. But if he turns it down it’s impressive.

Ah, got ya Belfast.

By all accounts he has been impressed with Ange and if he stays then big kudos to big Ange. Still hanging on to that very slim hope.

From a personal point of view, I do love the UCL but only really see it as a means to make us more competitive through additional revenue, and never have we really ever been considered as contenders.

I felt that the need to get it this season coming would be the only means of convincing Kane (if he stayed) to stay beyond this season but IF he goes now, whether we finish top 4 this season or not is not really what I would prioritise.

The expectation is that we wont, so we have no excuse not to really go for the domestic cups , and as fans we should just try to enjoy the development of the team, without too much pressure and expectations. As long as that progression is clear and the dir3ection of travel is positive we can feel satisfied with that for now, with a view to building for something bigger in the not too distant future.

Bissouma = Captain

Son = Vice captain and new number 9

Buy a young striker with potential and another forward to replace Son's old role.

I agree completely.

For me the main thing is for Spurs to play football and entertain. The passive, low block style was hurting my eyes. Gradual improvement and I’ll be happy. Litmus test for the potential progression this season. So 6th/7th and a domestic cup final and I’ll be delighted.

The only other club, that has a top class striker is Man City… with Haaland…

As long as we buy another top drawer CB, then we will be fine…

We still have Richy… Brazil’s fist choice CF… Son, Kulu,Solomon, Maddison etc…. The club will surely sign a new fast, upcoming CF..,

We have great midfield options… just need to buy that CB…

We’ve always had great strikers…

I wonder what our fan base was like, when the greatest of all time… Jimmy Greaves, left??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For me personally, as a 14 year old when Greaves left, it was the worst day of my Spurs-supporting life. It still rankles over 50 years later! Although I'm sorry to see Kane go, it comes nowhere near...if we start playing good attractive football from now on and show signs of progress, Kane will be a distant memory to me.

Fresh start. Ange has a system that will not rely on one player, unlike conte and Jose (2 players)

It’s a shame, but We will be fine.

Thanks all for your responses.

The captain choice will be Interesting, I think hjoberg if he stays may get it but is he a starter ?

Son for me is not captain material, he only qualifies on length of time at the club, I can't see him stirring the team with a rousing pre match team talk.

Romero has got the mouth but his recklessness would be a major worry.

Bentacour would be a really good shout when he gets back from injury.

Overall on the Kane situation I feel the club has made the right decision but it doesn't make it any easier to accept. Like others have mentioned it feels we have missed out massively in having a world class goalscorer in our ranks, a homegrown one at that. He was desperate to do well with us and I feel the decisions made on managerial appointments and player purchases towards the end of the poch era have massively let us down.

You can't imagine when the next top class forward will arrive at spurs. We were so fortunate for so long to have harry. Any striker that shows the slightest bit of promise comes with heavy competitions from major clubs these days...sigh

Too many Spurs fans are too happy just to play some attacking & entertaining football, this kind of mentality is why this club goes around in circles, never wins anything and eventually has to sell it`s best players.

You can bet Harry Kane is not happy with some entertaining football, he wants winning football, which is why he is leaving.

This club needs a complete change of mentality and that includes a lot of the fans.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with you but you are 100% right.

If Levy thought kane would resign or he'd get a 200m bid he is mental when he has 1 yr left. It's been left til now so the fees being quoted won't even go that far. Look at the kid united had to pay 70m+ for. Cant even compare him to Kane it's laughable but the fees ain't that far apart. Age may be a factor but so is being way better 😂

Levy still sees spurs as a huge club and a big pull and his arrogance means teams like Brighton and even Villa are finding cheap gems and spurs rarely do. The Kane fee would go far if it was Brighton spending it. That's on Levy totally.

Liverpool and spurs are run like a business with no risk at all. I'd say in ways it's worse than the glazers how they run their teams. United fans may get wet watching games but they've seen managers spend over a billion. We will ignore them spending it terribly though 😂
