During the dark days of the 1974-75 season, there was one beacon of light in our relegation struggle...one sight of the flowing mane of Alfie Conn as he bamboozled yet another defender was that of a thing of beauty...it was something to behold, it had a life of its own, it was a halo of hope and a talisman for survival...and so it proved when his locks inspired him to save us on the very last day of the season against the incredibly pragmatic and effective Leeds United...a triumph of flair over efficiency!
