Not a dig at the player, personally I think he's very good as an attacking WB in a team play a back 5... BUT
Having signed him on loan with an option/obligation to buy, he was clearly a player that works in a system like Conte's, but not much else. I don't know the details of the deal but having seen a big improvement in Royal, signed Spense and never played him and got rid of Conte way before the end of last season, I just don't get why we have spunked 40mln on a back up FB that doesn't really fit into a new system, Ange's 433 ?
Am I missing something here ?
I don't necessarily feel the same way about Kulu (Granted he had his injury problems) but the decline in his performances in the past 12 months is pretty worrying. Why are Spurs doing these deals with flexibility on the back end and then not making the decision that would appear to benefit the team.
Are we actually doing these deals in the manner we are to take a look/ see if the fit or are well suited to the prem Or is this just creative accounting by Levy to push back financial outlaw into the following windows/ fiscal years.
Here's the question..... would you have rather not made both deals permanent this summer and saved ourselves 75mln quid with more money available to buy a new striker, possibly another attacking wide player (Possibly Harvey Barnes Or Eze) and the additional CB we all know we need.
Just curious If I'm missing something in these deals or is it more wonky decision making from Levy & Co ?
Why did we sign Porro ?

Porro is one of the best Crossers in Europe. I'll stand by this. Need to know how to use him. I would definitely let him challenge Kulu for RW

crosses too much though tbf

I think Ange wants this from wingers. Especially cut backs into dangerous areas. We need a striker that thrives on this

i think so too maybe just not as much from deep

This one's on Levy. Wouldn't cough up for a decent CB but spunkked a load on a WB we didn't need for a manager on the outs.
If I were Ange I'd keep playing him RB to make a point

Feels like both should end up in a different position to where they're currently being used - Porro on the wing and Kulusevski in the middle. Just on a very basic level that seems to be what their natural attributes would favour.
Managers have access to a heck of a lot more data than we do though. There's clearly a reason Ange isn't playing Porro as a winger and Kulusevski as an 8, and I'm inclined to trust him for the time being

Spot on with Kulu defo not a winger and never will be, Son either

It probably wasn't clear then what he was about, now it is, no pace to get around defenders, so cuts inside onto left peg, would be better in a more central role

I was hoping Ange would replace Kulusevski in the 2nd half of the Brentford game, his pace in front of Royal attacking their full back and would love to see it given a go.
Personally, I was hoping we didn't take up the option to buy Kulusevski, had a good half to the season when he joined but nothing since, no pace whatsoever and is never going to put the fear into an opposition defence imo.

Couldn’t agree more. In this league wingers need pace. Kulu started well but either got found out or was just lucky to begin with. Not only does he have no pace but because we all know he has to cut inside he always seems to receive the ball facing our goal and slows our attacks down. Spurs’ transfer record is just so abysmal, Levy haggles over a fiver for Raya but sanctions 30m for Kulu and 40m or whatever it was for Porro
