I can say that i am quite accurate in my prediction of which new players flop and who don't. When we bought Ben White for 50m I was one of the few who didnt see it as overpaying. When we bought Ramsdale I was one of the few who predicted that he would be a big and key player for us. When we got Pepe I had a strong feeling he would flop badly. When we bough Cech and Willian I knew instantly that those were bad moves. And I have the same feeling about Havertz. I struggled to see what he offered against Man C, Forrest and Crystal Palace. i really dont know what Arteta sees in him and I hope he doesnt regret the money and time spent on Havertz. I thought he was bought to support the attack because he hasnt done much of that, except against City. We have played 2 lesser teams and he has done nothing significant for the attack. What will he then do against the big teams? I am sticking out my neck now to call this a flop move. let me hear what you guys think about Havertz.....Flop or not?

Kai Havertz has established his top flight career as a striker. For both club and country.
It's not his fault that we keep shoehorning him into deep-lying midfield positions he hasn't played in since he was 14 years old. You're going to have a very hard time building a midfielder out of a player who can't tackle to save his life.
I thought he showed some promise leading our line against City in the Community shield. Give him a run of games at the tip of our attack and then judge him after a few months.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's not playing in a deep lying midfielder role
And he wins the ball back fairly well
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We've been playing him in a 4-3-3, on the left side of a flat 3-man midfield. Positioning him behind a winger who generally couldn't be ārsed to track back and support his full back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not a deep lying midfielder role then

Raya signing was worth it alone just so Chelsea/Spurs don’t get him. Although I reckon he will have displaced Ramsdale before the end of the season. His distribution is on another level to any GK in England, even Ederson

Spurs had already moved on and bought Vicario as soon as we found out Raya’s price - no way Levy is going above £20m for a keeper.
Chelsea - wouldn’t have made a difference, they are just as likely to offer you £200m next summer for him spread over the remaining life cycle of the sun.
What’s weird about it is that Ramsdale will get displaced and lose value - why not sell him and replace with Raya. I just don’t understand why Arsenal have done business this way - best combo of keepers in the league but you can only ever play one, I just don’t get stock piling quality in this position, they very rarely get injured.

To provide competition for the present time. Whoever wins, gets to stay. Ramsdale won't lose value after one season.

Said it at the time, the most Arsenal player ever. Technically very good, will compliment your side in a lot of ways - won’t get 10 league goals though.
Signing Raya was even weirder - it’s good to have strength in depth but in the GK department it seems like overkill

Biggest myth in football is havertz is even average technically let alone very good.

I agree with this. This fallacy annoyed me about Marcos Alonso so much too. People saying ‘he’s a good technically..but xyz’. What does it even mean at that point. Being tall, lanky, caucasian and left footed?

I mean alonso was good technically tbf, had the sweetest strike of a ball I’ve seen in any fullback in 30 years watching footy near enough (carlos and co).
Havertz though, awful lackadaisical first touch that pings off him more often than not.

Nah I never got it myself. Alonso equally had as clumsy touch as anyoneand nondescript skills in close control/ vision/passing and one season with us had the worst crossing success rate of any full back in Europe with significant minutes. It’s an ambiguous saying in itself ‘being good technically’ but hitting the ball hard, is that enough? Like Havertz I think it’s turned to a fallacy, one man said it and now it’s just accepted lol, (just my own perception)

Arteta wants him to be inverted
Just like Partey is an inverted right back
He is creating The Invertibles

Another performance today from Havertz today where he showed how ‘technically good’ he is
