Top six favourite groups, solo artists.
Mine, fairly varied
Buddy Holly
Beatles (early albums)
Doors
Yes
Rush
Neil Young
I like my music, but know very little about the modern stuff. Is it any good. And how does it compare to the legends of the past?
Tales from Topographical Oceans, Relayer and Close to the Edge by Yes my favourite three albums. After the Goldrush, Neil Young runs them close.
At least we shouldn't argue over music tastes.
Whose into music on the Spurs board?

The Eagles
Early Dylan
and of course any Tamla Motown

Bring me the Horizon
Slaughter to Prevail
Slipknot
Chelsea Grin
Architects
Falling in Reverse
Landmvrks
I Prevail
Pierce the Veil
Hollywood Undead
Royal Republic
Tommy Cash
Skindred
Die Antwoord
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Got carried away… First 6 is my top 6 though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never met anyone who admitted to liking Skindred before. Each to their own and all that, but.....yuck.
Some other good ones on your list though!

Saw them at Download a while back, they’re good live, good chemistry with the crowd etc.
Some really good bands have poor chemistry with the crowd, like Korn and System of a Down.
One surprising band live for me was Sum41, they’re more heavier live than their recorded versions, a lot better.

Like most in here - very mixed in my likes - Santana to Leo sayer !
Do yourself a favour though and listen to Dimash - a Kazakhstan singer - hailed by many as the best singer in the world - mental what he does with his voice !!

Yeah to be fair a few people have said Skindred put on a great show. I just find them way too cheesy.
I watched the Sum41 Hellfest set just recently, was decent!

The Beatles would be my favourite group I guess, but like a bit of everything and anything from most genres except Country and Jazz.

There's plenty of good new music out there, you just need to be able to find it. Pop music is extremely homogenised so you'll be lucky to find much worthwhile on the radio, but the usual other outlets are still there, just in a modern guise. Zines have morphed into podcasts etc and while live music is suffering just now, it's still a hotbed of exciting new music whatever your preferred genre.

In no particular order......
Elvis

Adam and the ants
Then I heard straight outta Compton for the first time and was hooked....

Maybe you’re right and this is something we can’t argue about – so lets give it a go.
As a teenager I was into Heavy Rock bands, my favourite probably being Zeppelin. Saw them at Knebworth in 79, also seen Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Rolling Stones and Rush to name a few.
As Punk came on the scene, I got into The Damned, The Clash and The Pistols.
During the 80’s and 90s, GnR, Stevie Ray Vaughan, James, INXS, Stone Roses, Blur, Oasis, Stereophonics etc.
From the new millennium, I listen to a lot of Indie music, particularly like The Rifles, Pidgeon Detectives, The Kooks and The Wombats.
In my early years I did have a few Yes albums but can’t say they really thrilled me, I do share your fondness of Neil Young though, I love the live version of ‘Like a Hurricane’.
In contrast I occasionally listen to the Old Mowtown and Northern Souls tunes.
Are we going to have an argument now?

Good choice Brummie, no arguments from me. Although I did stop reading after your 1970 listings.
You don't like Yes.

I'm afraid not - despite having about 3 of their albums, I'm more a fan of guitar based music than keyboards!
