Forest v Burnley - Match Thread

What an amazing couple of years it has been!! From bottom of the Championship to 9th in the Premiership. How long can it last?

Well, the International break is finally over. A whole weekend of EPL football awaits, albeit we have to wait a wee while longer.

Burnley are yet to pick up a point this season. Three home games has seen them concede 11 goals, whilst scoring just three.

Meanwhile Forest went to Chelsea and picked up the three points as predicted. Can we do it against Burnley?

Burnley are a team in transition. Signing thirteen players this window, to our 14 players. The fact that our net spend is 50 million less than theirs wont be picked up by the commentators of course.

Injuries:

Danilo looks set to miss out with a hamstring problem and Elanga was withdrawn from the squad earlier.

Hennessy is still injured I believe.

Team:

Turner

Aurier Worrall Boly Niakhate Aina

Sangare Dominguez
MGW Yates

Awoniyi

Subs: Vlachodimos, McKenna, Montiel, Tavares, Mangala, Kouyate, CHO, Origi, Wood

Missing out:

Felipe, Murillo, Omobamidele, Toffolo, Williams, Aguilera and Santos.

Prediction:

You would like to think that the team we put out will be more like the one that mugged Chelsea, than the one that spluttered against Burnley.

Will teams start to sit in against us, trying to play us at our own game? An interesting one if it does happen.

Pace, power and pride across the pitch is all that we can ask for.

Defensively solid, and an eye to score on the break I expect us to win this 3-1.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Sangare score in this one. Origi with a goal off the bench late on.

Definitely not under-estimating Burnley, as they have a knack of scoring goals and playing good football. I just think we will beat them on the day.

COYRs!!!

Hopefully just saving ourselves for City…
Suppose I’ll settle for a point, just didn’t get that final ball right

Definitely need to improve the final pass, having said that, if someone had offered me 7 points from the opening 5 games, before the season started, I’d have snapped their hand off.

Got to apologise, the red card was correct, SKY have just shown an angle that shows it is violent conduct, i thought it was soft, i take that back.
VAR wins again, 2-0 to VAR tonight.

Never a Red card, it’s a contact game, he’s just shoving Yates away, never ever a sending off.
Ridiculous decision.
Pathetic.

Seen the replays, it’s a clear deliberate swing of the elbow into Yates’s chest, not a shove. Correct decision

One more thing to add, just seen Vincent Kompany interview on SKY, what a gent, conducted himself brilliantly, top guy. A lot of managers would have ranted and raved, not Vincent, answered the questions in a very calm and composed manner. Just adds to the respect i already had for him.

Guess it’s the kind of performance you get with so many making first starts. Mix bag

Chile’s Good, Bad and Ugly will have plenty of content to choose from 😂

Certainly will, but from a Garibaldi point of view, there are an awful lot of positives to take, not necessarily from tonight’s game, but with the young talent Steve Cooper now has to work with, the future really does look bright atm.
He needs to have a word with MGW or give him a break for a game or two, its just not working for him, but as the saying goes ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’,i have no doubt he’ll get back to his best soon.
Next game, City away is very low on everyone’s expectations list, but let’s have a battling performance, and at least compete, not like last seasons 6-0 drubbing. I don’t expect anything, points wise, and would happily settle for a 2-0 defeat, they are just that good. Having said that, its a Champions league week, so they may possibly be distracted or tired from their exertions, heres hoping.

Started brightly but overall we looked a bit disjointed. Gaps in the back four, and not enough protection from the two DMs. Montiel and Sangare caught out by the speed of the Premier League but they'll be OK.
Front four need to get to know each other.

Big picture - very happy to be eighth in the premier after five games. Hopefully Niakhate and Danilo will be available on Saturday.
