Very much hyped in his U21 role, but has made the transition well to senior team and the plaudits he'd received are not misplaced.
Has good positional sense, tackles, moves well and has a great pass on him.
When Kamara came on and was coming up to opponents penalty area he slowed down, not knowing what to do, I feel Archie would have made incisive pass or gone for goal himself, so a very positive player.
Farke has alluded to him not playing a whole season, but I would ask why?
Does he feel he's not physically developed enough?
Does he feel he's not experienced enough?
We hear a a lot about young players not physically ready, but there are plenty who have been, not just in football.
You cant teach experience, he will only get it through playing and so far think he's done really well.
Some thoughts on Archie Gray

Agree.
Ive heard the normal cliches for the last few weeks, too young, dont want burn out etc etc.
Its almost like they want him dropped so these midfield signings can be justified.
If he’s playing well, why take him out of the side 🤷🏻♂️

There will be some players who need a rest at times this season. Gray might be one of them.
That's why we need good cover in every position.
It's a long, hard season in this league. 3 games inside 7 days this week. 2 away in what looks like poor conditions. Hull have a distinct advantage recovery-wise having played at home on Friday night.

I don't remember Birmingham resting Jude Bellingham 🤔

I was surprised Gray played at Millwall - that's always a "tasty" fixture - but I think he managed the physical thing pretty well. He's pretty chunky, a bit like Eddie really.
Maybe the club want to represent themselves as protective and responsible but at the same time they need to maximise the return to be had from what seems to be a fine young prospect. Was Milner "protected"? He started young too.

Yep, Milner was 16 when he came on as a sub and scored against Chelsea!..
Lorimer was 15 and they both turned out to be great players!..
They say if you're good enough you're old enough, and Gray has definitely started with class!..

That's why you need a bigger squad than our former
brain trust went with before. All players need rest.
Especially in the Championship with the games the
way they are and quantity. I hope Farke rests Ampadu
tonight. Archie & Ethan have been stellar. Hope the
club manage both properly for the long run.

It’s been years now since I read it, but I remember reading something about Wayne Rooney/Theo Walcott and how playing too much at a young age can risk injury because your body is still growing.
Don’t quote this, just something I’m sure I’ve read. Maybe for his long term career managing his game time at 17 is a good thing, although I agree he’s playing well and shouldn’t be dropped for the sake of it

Was he not out injured for a while last season because of problems in his development?..
I think there was something said at the time it had something to do with his age and he was out for a while!..

Christmas period looks as tight as usual so it wi be good to have extra bodies.
I think rotation is going to be important this year, players will get a chance but i don't see any reason at all to drop Gray, just monitor his fitness and if the club is happy play him.
He deserves it
