Squad for Bayern

Manchester United travelling squad for Bayern Munich:

Goalkeepers: Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Andre Onana, Radek Vitek.

Defenders: Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Sergio Reguilon, Diogo Dalot, Jonny Evans.

Midfield: Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Facundo Pellistri, Scott McTominay, Dan Gore, Hannibal.

Forwards: Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Omari Forson.

So despite Mount, Varane, Mainoo and Amrabat training today they didn’t make the Final Cut.

Fack knows what happened to Maguire and I don’t care. We’re getting pumped sideways tomorrow with that I think, these injuries/suspensions are crippling us lads.

On the subject of Moyes wasn’t that the last time we played Bayern? When that Evra stunner went in we began to dream…

What a goal that was.

And then Arjen Robben shredded our dreams.

Have we already reached Ole revisionist theory time?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No revisionism needed to know he finished a very respectable 2nd place and 3rd place in the toughest league in world football. Just a fact.

ETH very unlikely to finish 2nd this season that's for sure.

For 18 months it was the most fun I have had watching Utd under Ole. We weren't perfect obviously but we did seem to attack much better than we do now.

Players (actual starters) are injured or gone for general stupidity

Who disliked Ole because he was Norwegian?

I think a lot of fans were just a bit skeptical of him tactically, that maybe his coaching was a little too simple and he thought he could replicate Ferguson in a lot of ways which never seemed that sustainable.

Pretty sure the vast majority of fans liked Ole (and still do) but that he doesn't have what it takes to be a top manager which is needed at a club like United. I also think the period during lockdown with no fans massively favoured us, just look at our away record now. It's no coincidence that a squad known for lacking character and being mentally weak struggles so much away from home but didn't when there were no fans.

BBC:

Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done an interview with The Athletic – lots in there regarding his time at Old Trafford as manager and also his current situation.

First up...his views on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking about Cristiano Ronaldo, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer discussed his decision to bring the Portugal star back to Old Trafford during his time as manager.

Solskjaer said it was a chance signing that "turned out wrong".

"It was a decision that was very difficult to turn down and I felt we had to take it, but it turned out wrong," said the Norwegian, who was speaking to The Athletic in his first interview since being sacked as Manchester United boss in 2021.

"When you have a group you need everyone to pull in the same direction. When things didn’t go right, you could see certain players and egos came out."

I'm reading it now.

"I told the players it was probably going to be the last time we worked together and to play with pride. We almost turned it around, until Harry Maguire got sent off."
