Levy ain't leaving

https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1704795505283289465?t=RCpWrupmEEWqCkIdtfjLqA&s=19

When asked about his future and selling a stake in the club, the Spurs chairman said in the interview: "I've got no real interest to leave Tottenham, but I have a duty to consider anything that anyone may want to propose. It’s not about me, it’s about what’s right for the club."

He added: "We run this club as if it’s a public company. If anyone wants to make a serious proposition to the board of Tottenham we would consider it, along with our advisers, and if we felt it was in the interests of the club we would be open to anything."

Levy and members of his family own just under 30% of ENIC's 86.58% controlling share in the club and he admitted that the north London outfit had received offers over the years from the Middle East, Far East and the US, but "nothing has been put on our table that we felt has been in the interests of shareholders".
------------
So there it is. We are stuck with him for god knows how long. I knew this was the case anyway but now we are actually hearing it from the horse's mouth.

all we need is Ange

No, what we need are trophies, and at the bare minimum, European football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think Europe will be back on the menu next year - Levy is very much for that.

Trophies - if we win one it will be like a Leicester winning the league, a complete fluke that was never planned for by the clubs hierarchy

Title: We will need to build up over the next couple seasons, ready to strike when Pep leaves City and it all goes to shiiiit for them.🙏

FA Cup: We have a chance with a bit pf luck of the draw, playing a strong lineup and if we continue to improve and strengthen.

League Cup: Bit unlucky to draw a PL team away so early in the new era, and we all know what happened.

We weren’t unlucky in the league cup, Ange unfathomably made 9 changes to the first eleven, and the rest as they say is history.

This is delusional. ENIC have no designs on building a title winning squad in anticipation of Pep leaving City, get bloody real. Despite Spurs being recognised as one of the most profitable sporting clubs on earth, Levy effectively said last night at the fan forum that getting quality through our academy is essential as we can’t afford to compete financially at the very top, and we know through painful learning that balancing the books and increasing the profit margin is more important to ENIC than silverware. That will always be the case when you are a portfolio piece for a big investment firm.

You will be pushing up the daisies before you see Spurs win a PL title under this ownership, but if 20+ years of their model hasn’t taught you that yet then it never will and you’ll still be patiently waiting for them to get it right another decade from now.

I am not serious that we target Peps retirement but it will be a big factor when he goes.

If you look at Arsenal and Liverpool over their periods of success/improvement, their spending has nto been vast, it has not been much more than ours, but they have had a strategy and have grown over several seasons.

Take the last 2 season, Arsenal have spent 1m euro less than Spurs according to Transfermarkt.

We have consistently spent more than LFC, Gross & Net.

So its not a case of whether ENIC will invest in a winning team, because they already invest at very high levels. It's HOW they invest, whether such investment is part of a well-structured club and strategy, and how its delivered.

Arsenal have a mix of youth, good value purchases, and more pricey buys in building their team.

Liverpool do the same with TAA Jones Elliot Gomez adding academy/youth to some good value buys (Robertson, Diaz, Mac Allister etc) to some bigger spending.

To think that Spurs are just going to spend nothing and hope that gems come from the academy is to either wilfully or idiotically misinterpret what is clearly being said.

The fact you talk about profit margin shows you do not know what you are talking about re Finances.

Go through Spurs books, their owners do not take money out of the club, through profit or dividends etc.

YES, they will not invest their own money to gamble that it will deliver success, but that is the case for 99% of clubs.

Only a fool fails to understand that a successful club is more valuable than an unsuccessful one. So of course our owners have an interest in success, but not at any cost....like 99% of other owners!
