Hi all,
Apologies to make yet another article on the whole VAR debate from the weekend, and appreciate that this idea is too little too late for Liverpool fans.
Ever since it happened I've been hearing radio stations, TV programmes and various other media expressing their doubt as to how this could have happened, and what might stop it from happening again. To me, there is an obvious way of ensuring this - quite simply, VAR does not take into account whether the original decision was 'correct' or not, instead giving a purely factual answer, i.e. 'offside' or 'onside' instead of 'check complete' - 'we think this might/might not be a penalty - take a look at the screen' instead of 'we think you might want to change your decision' (decision to award the penalty might/might not have been awarded).
I hope this makes sense - I've been trying to think how this solution might have any holes in it, but have yet to think of any. Thoughts? Surely a simple fix to a simple issue, if VAR is staying put.
Such an Obvious Fix?

All the TV "pundits" are viewing the position when Romero stuck his leg out. Then Diaz is on-side.
But had the ball already been kicked?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is that what VAR based their decision on? It doesn't matter now and the PGMOL already apologized.
I don't understand the reactions from some Spurs fans. It's not like the 3 points will be taken from them. They did nothing wrong by taking the 3 points. Not their fault at all but the way they're inventing excuses ad engaging in whataboutery is very pathetic.
Doesn't matter when the ball was kicked, what matters is what VAR actually based their decision on, which was nothing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And how on earth do you know what VAR took into consideration?

I know they checked and the goal was good. That's what they said. It's the mix up on thinking the goal had been allowed that brought about he error. PGMOL has apologised and I'm pretty sure they checked it again before apologising.
For Spurs fans to start making excuses and engaging in whataboutery is pathetic. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain by just accepting the fack up and even backing Liverpool to push for better officiating for everyone.

It was an error caused by miscommunication. All this need for reform and Karen Carra saying VAR is at breaking point is just hyperbole.
Only when it happens to Liverpool Football Club it is a disaster. Glorious.

Where was the apology when Jota was let off a clear red card for studding Skipp in the face, or when Fabinho was let off with elbowing Son etc etc
There is only ever a massive song and dance when a perceived decision goes against their darlings Varpool.

Yeah..all you "know" is what you've read in the Newspapers.
So, in fact you know nothing about what went on at VAR and its interactions with officials.
You're just a clueless wonder from Pool.

The PGMOL apologised through a statement which appeared in the papers. Everything you know is derived from reports as well so try not to be a genius and think before you post. I know what went on as far as they have revealed. Reports suggest they're considering releasing the audio so let's wait and see.

Honestly, we are now 3 days on and this constant "can't let it go" stance from the media, pundits and Liverpool fans is becoming farcical.
The latest thing I read on twitter this morning came from Talk Sport, who were actually ( seriously ) suggesting the FA give Liverpool an extra goal on their goal difference, for the "draw" they apparently would of got. Jesus.
For me the single biggest joke here is how all these people think Liverpool are some sort of exception. We all know every team has, at one point or another, had points lost from bad referee decisions. Yet virtually everyone who has the job of reporting football think the FA should just help Liverpool out.
This is after all the club universally known as LiVARpool for good reason. Yet not a peep out of them when countless decisions go their way. Without even trying, I could probably name 15 examples where Liverpool have benefited and nothing was said or done.
Come on you lot, move ooooooon.
