Behind the curve

With Onana, Allisson, Raya looking shakey this weekend, and it certainly no one off, is football beginning to question the importance of a footballing GK?

Be typical United, spending big on Onana just as the game moves on.

This idea of every manager trying to play like Pep is one of the reasons football for me becoming less enjoyable. It is okay to have different styles and my word the job
Of a keeper is to save shots!! Early signs showing we have signed an absolute fraud.

Secondly, we don’t have a player from Frankie, most of our midfield poor at keeping possession, so I don’t see how we are going to see much positive from this Onana signing this season.

Schmeichel was lauded for launching the ball to Giggs or Kanchelskis to break. We should go down that route.

Yes, with his epic long throws. Big Pete wasn't great with his feet. He had a massive kick and would stick his boat through stuff as good as anyone but he wasn't any kind of passer of the ball.

There have been plenty of people on this site using their usernames to proclaim their support for Palestine.

Don't recall those being interrogateded in this way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have any of them changed their names recently?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What does that matter?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Timing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Seems a pretty legitimate time to show solidarity with Israel,.no?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why? Because of a violent backlash by the people that Israel have been systematically brutalising for decades, including constant violation of international law, war crimes, major human rights abuses and harsh segregationist policies that Israel's *own* human rights organisation has likened to apartheid?

The recent events are extremely ugly and no sane person would seek to justify them. But nevertheless, they are an entirely predictable consequence of Israel's slow ethnic cleansing of the people of Gaza - half of which are children - and harsh rule of the West Bank. Or put differently, they are what Nuremburg described in its definition of a war of a aggression; the "supreme international crime... that... contains the accumulated evil of the whole".

That last part is key. "Accumulated evil of the whole" means *everything that follows*. Britain & the US bear significant responsibility for the mass scale and deadly sectarian violence in Iraq as a result of the invasion. That was a clear and predicted case of the "accumulated evil of the whole". We can think of other such examples. Palestinians violently responding against their oppressors and carrying out their own atrocities is a textbook example of the accumulated evil of the whole; a predicted consequence of UK-backed Israeli war crimes and so on.

I’d heard that when the pitch was relaid SAF had a slight camber from the middle of the pitch to the wings so when Schmeichel threw or kicked the ball out it naturally rolled to the wingers!
