Reya looked quite shaky and nervous early on today and very nearly lost possession a couple of times.
This is the second game on the trot that he's looked a bit dodgy, he gave a silly goal away against Lens with a poor clearance and I think Ramsdale would have saved the Lens winner.

Yes, he was shaky first half but still came up with some excellent passes, especially to Jesus. Ramsdale doesn't have that ability

He made that stunner against Spurs, then flapped at the very next cross.

Stunner is a strong word. It was a very good reaction save but on second viewing wasn't that far from him. I'd have expected Ramsdale to have also made that save, and that's the issue - could Raya have made some of the saves Ramsdale has? I'd have to believe he couldn't have. He hasn't shown us anything that suggests otherwise.

Ramsdale's inability with his feet is to me less of a loss that Raya's shot stopping. Keeping the ball out is the first objective of goalkeeping and so far I haven't seen anything to suggest Raya is better than Ramsdale at that. On balance I would expect Ramsdale to make the saves Raya has, but don't think I could say likewise the other way.

Rui and I are on the same wavelength here.

If ramsdale was a consistent, world class shot stopper then I'd be massively against Raya, but let's face it, he's not.
Raya has had some nervy moments, but he's also had some excellent ones. I'm willing to give him time, as he really did help us control the game in the 2nd half yesterday.

Ramsdale has the ability to make world class saves as he has showcased numerous times already in an Arsenal shirt, is he going to make them every time? No, no goalkeeper is going to make every world class save they potentially could.
However, Raya from what I've witnessed so far doesn't look to have that ability, physically he genuinely doesn't look like he has the reach to make those types of saves. Several of the goals that slipped past his fingers so far left me feeling like Ramsdale may have stopped them.
He may look a little better on the ball but even that aspect of his game has not wowed me given how nervy he's looked at times and how he has kicked it straight to opposition a number of times already just like Ramsdale did occasionally as well.
What are the excellent moments you are referring to? The save against Spurs was good but didn't blow me away like some of Ramsdale's saves have in the past.

I'm not saying ramsdale needs to make world class saves every game. An issue with ramsdale is he lets in a fair amount of shots that could have been fairly routine saves. Not quite dollies, but a decent save keeps them out.
Raya's save against spurs was excellent. I get we all like Ramsdale, but it's ok to call that save as it was, a brilliant piece of goalkeeping. But it's not just that, there have been excellent pieces of long distribution, attracting players for the press and passing through them, he's calmly caught some dangerous crosses too.
He obviously hasn't been perfect, but I'm willing to give him time to settle into a new team as I feel the way he plays can help us control games a lot better.

That is true, Ramsdale did let some silly ones slip in fair point.
If we were to scale it like: average, good, excellent, world class then I would agree it was excellent because of the reactions but it was fairly close to his body. I still would like to see him make a 'world class' save if you get my drift, I feel there is another level up from there which would be outstanding aka world class.
Agree on the long distribution and passes through the lines but I have also seen Ramsdale perform these too many times
He does look good in general with the crosses but also has had some errors in judgement there like the one he didn't quite get his hand to that Haaland nearly headed in on Sunday. Initially I thought he looks better than Ramsdale at claiming crosses but I'm now back to thinking there is not much difference there.
Neither of them are perfect or have been perfect. The difference between them for me boils down to your preference on the following, or rather the manager's preference: do you want your #1 to be slightly better on the ball or slightly better at saving the seemingly un-saveable.

Since when? I swear I remember everyone praising Ramsdale's passing and distribution numerous times after watching him pinging balls up the pitch to MFs and Forwards with pinpoint precision.

Reya doesn't command the defence and team like Ramsdale either. Pound for pound Ramsdale is more beneficial to this Arsenal team and this a big mistake on the manager's part. City game showed it in spades
