I've been reading, hearing and watching about this all my life..
I have thought of a possible solution.
As i am ignorant on some points, maybe wrong on others, brickbats and criticism is welcome, as, I would learn more.
Israel. I believe that they are entitled to a homeland, it was their ancient home, from which they were driven, and they have been exiled from many countries, treated poorly, culminating in the Holocaust in which six million were killed.
However they should only have the original boundaries, and live up to their promise of every citizen of any age, religion or gender having full and equal rights.
A new country formed, with recognised boundaries called Palestine. Again all citizens to have equal rights and to have a democratic government.
Israelis who live there retain their homes, but Israel agree to provide many homes, schools and hospitals over a period of time, surrounding oil rich arab countries asked to help.
A binding agreement no military force to be used against each other. When the inevitable troubles happen, people should be arrested, tried in a civil court, hopefully this means there will be less every year.
A thousand details need to be agreed, but that would be the basis.
Every effort should be made to help each other, and friendships developed.
Pie in the sky, but could it work ?
Israel and Palestine

No one should be guilt-shamed for what happened before their Great Grandparents were born, neither should the misdeeds of this country be glossed over.
The young have to be educated in a way that shows to whole picture.

How has anyone been guilt shamed? Honest question. The mere mention of these things and people start claiming stuff like they shouldn't be guilt shamed, they weren't alive back then etc etc.
Surely, can't you see the programming at work?

Tony Blair guilt-shamed the whole country when he apologised on our behalf for slavery.

My history curriculum as a year 6-11 in the Uk was..
Industrial Revolution
WW1
WW2
Crimean War
Fascinating stuff 😒

Yeah there's a reason I never picked history at high school. The most boring, dry subject that could only interest proper weirdos. We spent about six months on the slave trade and black American civil rights movement. So relevant for someone from the north-east of Scotland...
My favourite part of the history department was the wall outside where they had a "careers with a history degree" section:
Archaeologist (an absolute given)
History teacher (a bit redundant)
Prince Charles
Thanks guys, I'll get right on that.

I was annoyed about the way he worded it at the time, of course slavery was a shameful disgrace but we were only part of it.

A pretty good debate I think, everyone got their point across, and no abuse.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I don’t carry any responsibility for things that happened when I was unalive.

well said and I concur.

The spell filter didn’t think so, didn’t approve of unalive.
If I want to identify as unalive…

We apologised and then some, a very long time ago. Those that call for it now should read a history book first.
