West Ham v Forest - Match Thread

What a cracking result that was! Looks like we are gelling sooner than last season which is great!

The Good: great to see Danilo back.

The Bad: Awoniyi should have played to the whistle and scored when he supposedly fouled the player to win the ball back. That way they would have to review. A minor gripe!

The Ugly: VAR...lacked consistency in reviewing decisions and some of those offsides were dodgy.

Special Mention: the whole team were fantastic. Hard to pick a man of the match...Aina...Mangala?!

The Last Game (West Ham Away - a 4-0 loss):

Navas

Williams Worrall Felipe Lodi

Shelvey Freuler Colback

MGW Johnson

Wood

Safe to say that other than possibly Navas, Lodi and Johnson we are stronger in every department.

Team:

Vlachodimos

Aina Murillo Niakhate Toffolo

Sangare Mangala Dominguez

MGW Elanga

Awoniyi

Subs: Turner, Boly, Aurier, Tavares, Williams, Santos, Yates, Danilo, Origi*

I can imagine a surprise Origi inclusion for this.

Injuries:

Felipe, Montiel, CHO and Wood.

Laughing @ Derby:

Hennessy, McKenna, Omobamidele, Worrall, Aguilera and Kouyate.

Form:

West Ham (H) - W3 D1 L2 GF11 GA8 - 12th
Forest (A) - W1 D1 L4 GF4 GA10 - 13th

* West Ham have lost their last three EPL games.

Prediction:

West Ham have some very exciting players, but needed everyone on the pitch to beat Olympiakos on Thursday night.

They will surely be fatigued, having played mid-week games every week since the International break.

Other than beating Lincoln City they are winless this season when playing mid-week...so we have hope in beating them, even though it is away.

I'm going for a bold 3-2 win as they tire late on and the introduction of Danilo and Yates overrun them in midfield.

Win this and we will move up to a nose-bleeding 10th!

COYRs!!!

How are you following this game, is it just me or as the sky coverage missed the ball for most of the second half?

Another corner and we concede, yet again.
When will we learn ??

Undone again!

Given away too many set pieces today.

Poor game management but also poor from the Ref to keep giving soft free kicks. That said we have to learn not to give them the chance to fall over

If we hadn’t consistently given away set plays, we’d probably have won this.
Not sure we deserve to lose this, but we haven’t been positive enough up front.

Being naive has cost us again, if you can’t defend set plays in this league, you will get punished.
Yes, it’s an improved performance, but yet again , we come away with nothing.
Really, really disappointing.

We had some good spells in the game, but they wanted it more.
MGW set pieces not as good as JWP. In fact too many were over hit.

Why don’t teams put players on the post at set plays, it used to be the first thing you did when defending, now you seldom see it, player on our back post and their 3rd doesn’t go in.
Basic defending.

Whenever Paqueta was tackled I thought he had been shot by a sniper.
