Euro 24 Q-update

Hungary, Denmark, Slovakia and Albania have all qualified this week, not many more places still up for grabs through the groups.

One place still up for grabs is between Wales, Croatia and Armenia.
The Welsh know a win today away to Armenia combined with a Croatia defeat in Latvia would see them to Germany, but the latter is very long odds. Wales kick off at 2 and Croatia at 5.

Netherlands will be able to book their hotels with a win tonight at home to Ireland. Even if they don't their last match is in Gibraltar...

Israel play their 3rd game in 6 days, and it a must win against Romania. The game is being played in Hungary, and if Israel fail to win both Romania and Switzerland qualify. Switzerland just need to beat Kosovo to seal their place irregardless of the other game.

Tomorrow sees Serbia needing just a point against Bulgaria. Montenegro could take advantage of a Serbian defeat if they can win in Hungary.

Monday sees some massive games.
Ukraine versus Italy is a winner takes all. Italy have a fall back of knowing a draw is enough.

Moldova can leapfrog Czech Republic into the second Q place in Group E with a win. The Czechs, at home, just need to avoid defeat.

The third direct play-off of the night is Slovenia versus Kazakhstan in group H. The home side hold a 1 point advantage, so the emphasis is on Kazakhstan to win the game.


In terms of seeding for next months draw, Englands win last night puts them in pot 1 with hosts Germany and Portugal. Spain and France look very likely to join them. A Belgium win in their final seals the sixth top seed place.
Scotland need a win to get into pot 2 (technically they could still win the group and be in the top seed discussion, but unlikely).


Irelands slim hopes for a play-off are over. Norway still have a very slim chance, they need Israel to qualify ahead of Romania.
