Port Vale 0 - 1 Derby County

PORT VALE v DERBY COUNTY League 1 #16

Tuesday 28th Nov 2023 1945 Vale Park

OK, just to move on from Chrissy Martin.

A satisfying victory versus Bristol Rovers in a a dour game which sort of ignited in the last half hour. Its points that count and if I was a Gas fan which I'm not, I would have left Pride Park in a very bad mood.

I think grinding out results like we did on Saturday is what we have to - not brilliant, not one for the purists but so what? And wasn't the south stand quiet - again.

Port Vale? hovering just above the drop zone and have had some struggles this year. There for another win? Yeah and you know what happens.....

Team news:- Wildsmith (GK), Wilson, Forsyth, Hourihane (C), Cashin, Bird, Collins, Mendez-Laing, Fornah, Nyambe, Nelson.

Subs:- Vickers (GK), Bradley, Barkhuizen, Sibley, Waghorn, Ward, John-Jules.

Firstborn is vomiting freely today after last night's dining experience at Vale Park. I'm made of sterner stuff and currently just have a troubling sensation in the abdominal area. I'll keep you all posted......

Did you meet anyone from liverpool bearing gifts of food by any chance?

The dead rats which are found in their dustbins, and which are apparently considered by them to be a great delicacy according to the songs of my youth, would have been preferable to the fare served up at Vale Park last night.

Vidal, did I imagine it, or did you report the food at Port Vale last seson was 'very good'?

I will say I think it's the worst away ground I've ever been to now they've swapped ends for the visitors.

Last year the food was excellent. There was an artisan hot dog stall outside the ground selling various types of dog with a variety of toppings including crispy bacon bits, mustard and chives. Chives, I tell you. Fancy chips as well though they had run out of those last season. We got there early yesterday so I had fondly imagined a dog 'n' chip feast to warm the cockles. What was served up was absolutely disgusting.

You should have indulged in the Club Vale package. Executive parking, complimentary drinks in the "Stoke Lounge" - a decent pre-match dinner hosted by Port Vale legends and post-match drinks with local celebrities. Well worth it when you consider the alternatives...........

Well at least we know we can "do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke"

Saw a post celebrating Paul McGrath's 64th birthday!
SIXTY-FOUR????

Its got to be a mistake right? He was in a Derby shirt not that long ago, can't have been close to 30 years ago.
