What an utterly disgraceful decision in favour of PSG against Newcastle.
It hit the lads body and then his arm.
VAR and handball

That was not a hand ball if you go by the letter of the letter because A) it wasn’t intentional B) the distance was so small that there was zero thinking time and the most crucial in this instance C) the hand was in a natural position for the situation.
Staggering how the VAR ref faaacked that one up, I only do grass roots football and I could have got that right in real time

The handball rule really needs to change anyway. Should be only be punished if it is blatantly deliberate or if the ball has come from far enough away for the player to move their arm out of the way e.g. McTominay va Sheff Utd.

I agree, I don’t remember any real controversy when the rule was it is only handball if deemed intentional - just go back to that, makes the refs job much easier and we won’t get as many bat schitt decisions.
They are killing the game with all this added complexity

This unnatural position nonsense does my head. What may be an unnatural position in everyday life may not be an unnatural position on the football pitch.

I think I'm well ahead of the curve on this one.
I said last season I'd totally given up on trying to understand the handball rule any more, and I don't think I'll be bothered again until it's been at least 3 or 4 years since they've settled on an interpretation.
As it is, they seem to be tweaking it this way or that every single season, and I'm increasingly of the opinion that they're only doing it to keep people on the back foot as to what actually is or isn't a handball.
Let them have their cake and eat it. They're going to make whatever fackin' call they want to anyway. Was last night's official wrong? Who cares, PSG scraped a draw, the authorities will be happy with that, and they have a readymade scapegoat whose main crime is probably being just as confused as any other poor sod, and feels forced to play the odds of preferring to get it wrong against Newcastle than against PSG.

The pundits don't know what the fack they're on about half the time either. You'd struggle sometimes to shovel half a brain together from an entire panel of former pros.

Fack me...what's hard to understand here..the ball hit him elsewhere & richoched in to his natural arm...humans do not possess the ability to move offending/non offending arms at that range even if they wanted to
VAR can clearly see this & failed to act correctly...I like the system in general, but it's over seen by utter facktards at time

Also there is no reason that the CL should have different VAR values to domestic leagues in this regard either

I might be mistaken, but I seem to recall Napoli won a penalty against Madrid at the Maradona for exactly the same reason. If it wasn't that game, pretty sure it's happened to us somewhere this season too.
