Effort

Yet again, we've been totally outworked when up against one of the better sides in the league.

I'm at the stage where I just want to see the team actually make an honest effort and if we don't win, we don't win.

I don't know if we can field a full 11 of players who will graft for the club but I'd love to see this actually become the foundation which the team is built on (and lazy players warm the bench regardless of their ability).

I won't go into naming offenders but Newcastle won 65% of duels and made almost double the amount of off the ball runs.

Ultimately, you can't be competitive with stats like that and I'd be far happier watching potentially inferior players giving it their all than watching lazy players sulking.

Rashford and Martial were a disgrace last night.

I would want them out of my club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The disgrace was starting them away at Newcastle in the first place at least Hojlund and Antony put a shift in why on earth ETH thought it was a good idea to face an all energy team with zero tracking back Rashford and Martial is astounding not to mention benching Varane and moving Shaw to left centre back as he continue another of his tiersome feuds with a player he should be giving more respect.

This guy is a poor tactically and in man management, the environment he came into granted is far from perfect but now in my opinion he is making it worse it seems a very unhappy squad and place to be, last night was absolutely awful.

When your most committed player was the guy you took the captaincy off and tried to sell then you know you have big issues.

Clearly the players aren't happy with ETH about something. What this is I don't know. Treatment of DDG, Sancho Varane etc or perhaps it's the training methods which have been getting quite a bit of criticism from supposed leaks.

The season is done. It's now the manager or the players again and we know which was it will go. We can't sell out players even when we want to and even when we do we don't get top dollar so we can't even afford a rebuild.

ETH's rebuild even needs a rebuild though. £400m spent and we have very little to show for it. He's just not good enough. Managing a big fish in a pub league is probably where he belongs.

Effort was really an issue last season. Was it new manager bounce?

The loss of Martinez and Fred have seriously impacted us negatively. Say what you about them but they brought heart, desire and work rate.

Jenas called out Rashford and Martial at half time on BT/TNT. He showed examples of Rahfords lack of desire to track back and cover for the RFB leaving acres of space for Ncastle to exploit. Time and time again. ETH must see this too, and he must pick up on it to the player. But it seems what the manager says falls of deaf ears. He also showed a clip of Martials pitiful efforts to make the press on Newcastle moving out of defence. You could see ETH screaming and gesturing at him to join in the press. Martial was stood walking around on the centre spot and just turned around and looked at ETH and shrugged his shoulders. Both players as Jenas said spend too much time doing nothing on the pitch in transition except holding their hands and arms in the air gestering either at the ref or the manager.

These players are clearly not playing for the manager as instructed. If this IS so then ETH has no chance of surviving. He will probably be gone by Christmas at this rate.

I don’t know the answer, ETH appears to have tried a few approaches, Jose had his way and Ole his.

So we go for a Conte and give them a kicking, which may work for 6 months? Do we look for another next big thing like ETH?

I’m not sold on ETH, but I’m also not totally done with him. His summer business troubles me as I don’t home eve actually fixed any of our issues.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

He needs a strong voice to counter his purchasing choices for the greater good good the club, for the longevity of the squad beyond the tenure of any manager. A coach is bound to operate selfishly but is likely to see sense when his ideas are countered by a capable DoF. Who under the current set up does this? That is why our squad is bloated with squad players or players who are simply not good enough.

The squad is also bloated with too many egos who need to be removed.
