Yeah, definitely one of our best of the season, especially in the conditions. Just a shame for us the season suddenly gets so fragmented.

Yeah top performance from Liverpool that was. Could have scored six.

I feel that the title will be between Liverpool and City, but you can’t write Arsenal off despite the last two games. I think Spurs best 11 is capable of getting close but we have too many injuries to compete. The fact that there are only two league games for us in January does help us though I think. Hopefully we don’t pick up any more injuries, Bentancur returned much sooner than expected and hopefully VdV and Maddison get back soon.

With expected goals. Does anyone know how the xg works for penalties.

Jota for example before his dive should have had a 0.99 expected goals after rounding the keeper and he dived.
The penalty you then also have a high expected goals.

Same for the first pen, it must be a high xg before the player is fouled.

Or after the fouls are given is the original chance removed from the equation?

You'd think it's pretty much self explanatory this one Nick. XG is zero if you can't score, which obviously you can't as the referee stopped the game and awarded a penalty. Therefore your XG is worked out from the chance of scoring the penalty, not from when you had zero chance as the referee awarded a penalty.

But yeah XGs are crap. Better finishers have the same XGs as the worst finishers according to the stats. Also the standard of the keeper, or even the defenders isn't taken into account. Multiple other reasons like distance, where some players are lethal from distance and others never score long range goals is not taken into account, it's simply the distance. Players who are great at side-footing it into the corner versus players like Nunez who prefer to just smash it goalwards amongst a plethora of other reasons.
