June 30th this year will be the 50th anniversary of joining my first ship as a Merchant Navy Officer Cadet. Only a few people on board had radios. We would get a couple of copies of London Calling each month which were like gold dust. The magazine listed the broadcast times for the BBC World Service for the whole world. On a Saturday (time zones allowed for) we would be sat in our cabins twiddling the dial on our radio gently trying to tune in to the stated frequency for the time and location. To finally hear the strains of "Lillibullero" followed by a crackly "This is the BBC World Service" was like winning the jackpot.
Now we have the internet and the World is our lobster.
People have the ability and choice to become more educated and less insular. But some people....

The problem today is that many people choose to gather their trusted information and solutions from the wrong areas of 'the internet'.
Which is worse than having to either listen to their teachers or thumb through the Encyclopaedia Britannica to find out the answer to stuff, back in the day.
