Going down memory lane
Big up the BBC, done a lot of good work across the world. A lot of people don't have a choice about where they are raised and the environment which can have a big impact on general outlook, but it's still everyone's responsibility to learn things and be a better citizen of the world, not just your own country. After all, if you fack up the whole world then it's only a matter of time before it catches up with you too and you get facked as well.
Good thread. Gone are the days of innocent. The time of plausible deniability is edging into the rear view mirror. If you're being an ignorant caant now it's pretty much because you made that decision. No longer does it take a university education or a bunch of encyclopedias to know better. Just take a minute to not be an ignorant caant. You're looking at the solution to it right now. Thanks.
We are all ignorant.
But about different things.
When I had qualified as a Navigating Officer I served on a vessel trading out from Singapore to Indonesia, Aus & Kiwi. In our totally forbidden poker school I won $200 US one evening and spent $100 of it on a new Sony digital radio. I could program it with all of the relevant BBC World Service frequencies and switch between them at the press of a button. When there was any important sport on I would turn up the volume and within minutes other officers descended on my cabin with half a case of beer under their arm. It was pretty much a case of "In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king".
We take digital for granted nowadays but back then it was bakelite dials, tuning scales and a wire hanging out of your porthole as an aerial.
Those were the days my friend ! as Sandy Shaw would say .
Plausible deniability.
Careful everyone - BLB is CIA.
The problem today is that many people choose to gather their trusted information and solutions from the wrong areas of 'the internet'.
Which is worse than having to either listen to their teachers or thumb through the Encyclopaedia Britannica to find out the answer to stuff, back in the day.
Mary Hopkin would be more likely to say "Those Are The Days".

Yes it was little Hairy Mopkin and I got it wrong by saying
"Those ARE the Days". Another day of not being perfect dammit.
The dj at OT loved it, he never missed playing it for a least a season. The said dj was Lovejoys father ie Ian McShane.

And there I lies the problem with the Internet.
I give you exhibit A, the Trump supporter.
