As revealed the club have known since November. Any well run club will have already identified the new man, spoken to him and pretty much have a contact agreed.
Leverkusen have come out and said they won't stand in Alonso's way of he wanted to leave at the end of the season.
Ancelotti signed a new Real deal after November. Real by all accounts were looking at Alonso before then.
Some backroom staff are going. Again suggesting the conversations with the new man have resulted in him wanting his own people.
Everything points to it being Alonso. This is football though, so anything can happen.
Would I be happy? Yes, I think he has what it takes, always used to come back and watch games after he left so clearly still has the club in his heart.
Is it a blow? Absolutely it is, but he's done what he can to overthrow a state owned club and without all the dodgy dealings at City, would have won so much more.
A club is still much more than a manager and the players. The club will still and has been standing long after Players and Managers go.

Sky Bet odds for next Liverpool manager:

Can you imagine it on here if it was Ange?

Whoever it is will be massively up against it. Fan expectations are now high again and there's a very good chance the star player will also be leaving for Saudi Arabia.
Alonso wasn't even on anyone's radar 6months ago too. Could be too soon for him for a job this big I reckon.

Let’s not pretend for a second that Alonso is as good as Klopp at management but there’s clearly something there.

It might help to give him time to prove what he's capable.

How so?
It is a huge blow, no doubt. Clubs go on and new players and mangers come and go.
We have been so lucky with Klopp. I trust the owners not to make the same mistake they did with Rodgers.
Unlike your owners who have a scattergun approach to football, ours have much more football acumen with the right people in the club.
Even without Klopp, we'll still be better off than you lot and you know it.

Mate, you really are wasting your time with that poster. He’s literally only on this site to troll, and there’s definitely something wrong with him mentally.
