Apparently clocked the PL sprint record last weekend vs Brentford, from the Athletic: To put his feat into context," the Premier League website gushed, “Van de Ven’s blistering pace against Brentford was clocked at 10.38m per second, or 23.23 miles per hour. When sprint star Usain Bolt set the current 100m world record in 2009, his average speed was 10.44m per second, or 23.35mph (37.58 km/h)."
Obviously clocking those sorts of speeds over 30 yards on the pitch doesn’t equate to being an super elite record breaking sprinter like Bolt, those comparisons are farcical and that is the jist of the Athletic article when you read on.
Nonetheless though, from a footballing perspective Micky VDV is absolutely rapid, the fastest I’ve seen in a Spurs shirt since Bale. His all round game is excellent as well, t he timing of his tackling, his ability on the ball and the fact he’s 6’3" and good in the air. He also has the mental composure Romero lacks at times. I’d be very interested to see what a Dragusin VDV partnership looked like for a few games. We’ve unlocked a gem with this player, can see that already.
Micky Van De Ven - Fastest Ever?

I just don't see where Dragusin comes into this team (other than the bit part player he has been)
vdV is basically the perfect player for an Ange back line with his speed and strength
Romero is a vice captain so I don't think Romero will be dropped either regardless of his disciplinary record (rightly or wrongly)
So who will he be looking to dislodge from those 2...?
I just don't see Dragusin being happy in a years time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He will get loads of games due to Romeros injuries and suspensions. If we’re back in Europe next year - which looks likely, then there will b plenty of rotation as Ange likes changing it around quite a bit. I’m not worried at all and I doubt Dragusin is either

The Athletic article is basically all about how comparing footballers' one-off sprints to elite sprinters is absurd. And the OP does say that.

It’s not at all. Read the article before you make a stupid comment. They explain it isn’t a true fair comparison for various reasons they explain. --------------------------------------------------

People saying the comparison to sprinters is ridiculous, should read the article. They explain how it’s not a fair comparison for various reasons ,and it’s a reference to start with. It’s a good piece and well researched.

While I don't think Romero is one of the main areas you need to improve upon, I definitely think that his position shouldn't be nailed on given you can't ever truly rely on him, plus that lack of reliability opens the doors for others to prove themselves.
Like I say, not pressing, but if you wanna continue on this trajectory I think it's a position that can be improved upon eventually.

when theres suspensions and injuries
we moan about not having quality back up then go on about how these players are ever going to play

I reckon Walker was a little bit faster than him. I remember when they were talking about the fastest Spurs players when we had Walker, Bale & Lennon and they said that Lennon was quickest acceleration but Walker was fastest over distance.
I recall Dier being really high up in top speed metrics as well (as well as Jagielka reaching the top speed in the league one season) but they both have appalling acceleration which is what matters more in football

I've been thinking much the same...is Dragusin going to be happy on the bench?
Well, Spurs management must have said something to Draguisin because he came here in preference to Bayern!
I think we're going to see a swap around strategy where Draguisin comes in for some games, maybe replacing VDV for health and safety reasons.....VDV's hamstring may be a matter of concern for the medical staff.
Another possibility is that Draguisin moves up into the midfield on occasion.
