And he was the cheap option compared to Tapsoba - who is also having a good season.
Feel like our back 4 just needs an Udogie back up and then it’s complete - very happy
Was this clocked after his injury too? Even more impressive if so.
Where does he compare to other footballers like Walker, Magure etc?
The only one I'd feel could give him a run for his money in the league is Walker, who is getting on a bit now. But yeah, blistering pace. I can't believe we got him to be honest, he's going to be one of the best CBs in the world and is already well on his way.
Unfortunately, such speed merchants have a tendency to snap their hammys without very careful preventative management. Knew of such a player that was having a couple a season. He had a long'ish drive to work and they identified that as being a key factor along with not enough time after it stretching & stuff. They fixed it by moving closer plus obviously the preventative stuff.
Bailed us out 4 times too with his speed!
One of the best CBs in the league with great tackling and speed to cover colleagues mistakes!
Really a good combo at the back, one is a speed merchant and the other is the nasty guy!
Absolute beast. The worry is that one day the hammy injuries will catch up to him - he had one at Wolfsburg and then another this season - but otherwise he can easily become one of the world's best. There's a decent argument to say he's already in the top echelon tbh, there's not that many elite centre halves around nowadays.
All the physical attributes are there already and plenty of raw materials to work on with his composure and ball-playing. Love the guy.
to compare a bit more accurately Bolts top speed was 12.2 metres per second.
however that was on a track and not on grass with boots on
FWIW it took Usain Bolt a 60m run up to get to that speed
Bolts speed doesnt relate on the pitch however.... When he played the charity match and they compared Bolts top speed to Mo Farah. Farah was a fair bit faster.
He’s clearly rapid and no dig at you Ace, but the athletic stats are a joke there. Comparing someone’s top speed to some else’s average from a standing start is madness. Even though Bolt was still higher

Given the major differences in conditions, the comparisons to Bolt are pretty meaningless whichever metric you use. The Farah comparison is completely anecdotal too. There can be myriad reasons to explain it other than the mere the fact it was on a football pitch.

If he knows what's good for him he should have his own private training team that have looked after Olympic sprinters careers

I know I pretty much clarified that already.
The Athletic article is basically all about how comparing footballers' one-off sprints to elite sprinters is absurd. And the OP does say that.

Clarified what?
That it's pretty meaningless?
Or that Farah being faster on grass in a one-off charity game was completely anecdotal and has myriad possible explanations rather than Farah actually being faster on grass?
Either way, no you didn't.
VDV has been an awesome buy.
I was a bit concerned when we went for him as the reports were he's fast but still a bit raw. It appeared like Tapsoba was the more complete player, hence more expensive, but that Spurs were going for the cheaper, rawer option as per usual.
Great judgement by the club. 23 years old, we've should have his best years €40m with €10 add-on, one of the add-ons is that he has to win the eurovision song contest, and another is he has to give VVD an in-match wedgie.

I just don't see where Dragusin comes into this team (other than the bit part player he has been)
vdV is basically the perfect player for an Ange back line with his speed and strength
Romero is a vice captain so I don't think Romero will be dropped either regardless of his disciplinary record (rightly or wrongly)
So who will he be looking to dislodge from those 2...?
I just don't see Dragusin being happy in a years time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For the time being, he'll cover injuries and suspensions, as well as next season probably having a bigger role in other competitions.
When you think of the amount of game time Davies and Royal got already this season, there'll be plenty of opportunities for him.

It was the PL website that compared to Bolt. The Athletic article was about how such comparisons are ridiculous and footballers speeds should only be judged in the context of football.

A lot of recency recordings so I guess this metric was only tested from 2021. Walker would have been quicker in his late 20s you would think.

Would Ange play a back 3 and allow Porro and Udogie more freedom further forward?

Hope not. Think they have enough freedom as it is. Unless you want to us to play 3 2 5?
