to compare a bit more accurately Bolts top speed was 12.2 metres per second.
however that was on a track and not on grass with boots on
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Given the major differences in conditions, the comparisons to Bolt are pretty meaningless whichever metric you use. The Farah comparison is completely anecdotal too. There can be myriad reasons to explain it other than the mere the fact it was on a football pitch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know I pretty much clarified that already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Clarified what?
That it's pretty meaningless?
Or that Farah being faster on grass in a one-off charity game was completely anecdotal and has myriad possible explanations rather than Farah actually being faster on grass?
Either way, no you didn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
that the conditions were different and the comparison didnt mean much. And that sprinters are not a good gauge of this on a football field. cos when the practicial side of playing the game takes place longer distance runners tend to be quicker, cos people dont realise A how quick they are still and B that a sprinter has zero endurance so unless that sprint of made in the first min of the game they wont be nearly as quick as you expect.

Unfortunately, such speed merchants have a tendency to snap their hammys without very careful preventative management. Knew of such a player that was having a couple a season. He had a long'ish drive to work and they identified that as being a key factor along with not enough time after it stretching & stuff. They fixed it by moving closer plus obviously the preventative stuff.

Ange inverts the fullbacks to come inside and play in the centre. playing them as wingbacks would be the opposite of that
People saying the comparison to sprinters is ridiculous, should read the article. They explain how it’s not a fair comparison for various reasons ,and it’s a reference to start with. It’s a good piece and well researched.

I just don't see where Dragusin comes into this team (other than the bit part player he has been)
vdV is basically the perfect player for an Ange back line with his speed and strength
Romero is a vice captain so I don't think Romero will be dropped either regardless of his disciplinary record (rightly or wrongly)
So who will he be looking to dislodge from those 2...?
I just don't see Dragusin being happy in a years time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He will get loads of games due to Romeros injuries and suspensions. If we’re back in Europe next year - which looks likely, then there will b plenty of rotation as Ange likes changing it around quite a bit. I’m not worried at all and I doubt Dragusin is either

While I don't think Romero is one of the main areas you need to improve upon, I definitely think that his position shouldn't be nailed on given you can't ever truly rely on him, plus that lack of reliability opens the doors for others to prove themselves.
Like I say, not pressing, but if you wanna continue on this trajectory I think it's a position that can be improved upon eventually.
when theres suspensions and injuries
we moan about not having quality back up then go on about how these players are ever going to play
I reckon Walker was a little bit faster than him. I remember when they were talking about the fastest Spurs players when we had Walker, Bale & Lennon and they said that Lennon was quickest acceleration but Walker was fastest over distance.
I recall Dier being really high up in top speed metrics as well (as well as Jagielka reaching the top speed in the league one season) but they both have appalling acceleration which is what matters more in football

I've been thinking much the same...is Dragusin going to be happy on the bench?
Well, Spurs management must have said something to Draguisin because he came here in preference to Bayern!
I think we're going to see a swap around strategy where Draguisin comes in for some games, maybe replacing VDV for health and safety reasons.....VDV's hamstring may be a matter of concern for the medical staff.
Another possibility is that Draguisin moves up into the midfield on occasion.
