Barca could well go for Arteta

----------------------------------------------------------

If I were Arteta, I'd be inclined to sit tight. Barcelona have an incoherent squad with ageing players that are hard to shift, and the desperate short-term financial decisions made 18 months ago make it harder than ever for them to invest to improve things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're probably right, not to mention the squad Madrid are putting together.

However the challenge he has at Arsenal to overcome City and Liverpool is a big one, maybe he's taken them as far as he can.

He's Spanish, came through Barca's youth system, he's close to Pep. I'm sure there's a lot that would attract Arteta to Barcelona. Though I suspect you're right and it isn't the right time.

Wouldn't be too surprised if De Zerbi and Emery moved to bigger clubs relatively soon, as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think De Zerbi will be looking at what happened with Potter. He left for a perceived move up that backfired. Is not better to be overachieving at Brighton or be seen to be underachieving at a bigger club?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The lesson to draw from Potter's experience isn't "don't aim high", but "pick your club wisely - and don't go to Chelsea or United". The best coaches should definitely look for clubs that are stable and well run, and ideally where the footballing strategy is a good fit with their philosophy. Had Potter moved to City, Liverpool or Arsenal - or Villa even - I think he'd have fared considerably better.

🗣️Wayne Rooney: "I did say to him (Van Gaal) once that the players had gone and that he needed to change this process because it was getting difficult. Towards the end, Louis asked me how he could change to get the players back on side, but unfortunately it was too late by then."

I've just seen this quote from Wazza on the Overlap, it's a shame Van Gaal was a stubborn goat.

All those things were true of Xavi too... Arteta would be wise to think with his head on this one.

Barca also likely to have another full season at the Olympic stadium, which is quite poor and probably played a part in this season's failures.

Agree with all of that, but we've seen this story play out plenty of times before for players and managers alike.

Barca and Madrid just have a pull nobody else can compete with.

Do you think Barry has some sort of a trophy cabinet in his home with a memorial to every time someone got Barry'd?

No. Tuchel is massively overrated.

Arteta would be stupid to go to Barca now. I’m sure he would love to at one point but right now he’s at one of the best teams in Europe amd competing in the league.

I reckon De Zerbi is more likely, only so far he can go with Brighton, less connection to the league/country compared to Arteta and has shown he has no issue moving clubs as manager.
