Is Mad Max: Fury Road THE best action film ever made?
Apologies. While I'd post this on the film board, I know I'd get 2 comments there and that's it. We all know the United board is the place to be.
Anyway yes these things are subjective Andy there definitely won't be a unanimous decision here but..
Fury Road is almost 10 years old and has really stood the test of initial hype.
Many films take a good few years to be considered one of the best of it's genre but this one I had the privilege of watching in the cinema back in 2015. Even today it's still considered one of the best action films.
That dust storm scene near the beginning is something else.
But there's many others!
For me John Wick 4 is ridiculous good fun too.
Tonight I have the house to myself and a bottle of wine so I am going to watch MM:FR, then I'm going to watch JW4 back to back and I'll get back to you on which I think is best.
Before hand my top 10 action films are:
1. Mad Max Fury Road
2. John Wick 4 (1 is amazing too)
3. Terminator 2
4. The Raid
5. The Matrix (I know a lot of people don't but I really rate the second film, but I actually think it's great. The highway chase in Matrix Reloaded is fantastic)
6. Aliens
7. Predator
8. Top Gun Maverick
9. LOTR: The Two Towers (yes it's a fantasy film and my favourite trilogy of all time but this one can still be considered an action film, so I'll put it low in my top 10 here)
10: Upgrade (hugely underrated and at least worth a Google search, came out in 2018 with that guy that kind of looks like Tom Hardy)
That Judge Dredd film with Karl Urban is worth a mention here too imo! Also Mission impossible: Fallout is good fun

For pure action (spectacle, explosions, etc) I don't think anything will ever top Terminator I & II or Jurassic Park first watch as a young man on the big screen with the sound systems you didn't have at home.
But that has been ages ago, and if I look at the IMDB top 50 action list of the past 5 years only Dune and RRR were impressive to me.
I do rate Wick 4, The Raid etc, but I see them more as martial arts flicks and seek them out mainly for the man to man (or woman) battles and real/practical stunts. Probably my all time favorites are Flash Point and SPL (Kill Zone), both starring Donnie Yen. The former has a few memorable 'realistic' MMA style fight scenes, while the latter has one of the greatest knife / weapon fight in cinema ever.

Fury Road, I put as the greatest action film of the 2K10’s. It’s up there as an overall fav, but It doesn’t crack my Top 5.

Can barely remember the non bale Batman films
Apart from the clooney one but that’s because it was just so bad
Not a big fan of the films overall but just thought heath ledger was outstanding as the joker

The non Bale Batman's were.a bit too cartooney leaning more towards the Adam West TV version. Maybe less so the first Tim Burton one. When it got to Arnie playingr Freeze and Clooney's Batnips the jig was up. Nolans iteration was more graphic novel adult world.
Bourne did similar for James Bond. The Bourne films came out and the makers of Bond changed from daft one liners and ridiculous gadgets to a more grounded, gritty & realistic Bond in Daniel Craig.

Terminator 2 is so overrated. The original Terminator film is much better. On the subject of Arnie, Predator is a highly underrated film.

is good butt is to shallow
I think the John Wick moovies r the best combining grate action n cinematofraphy n I love allthe Intercintinental ex-comunicado high table stuff

Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope. Remastered.
Still the best action movie of all time.
