It’s the hope that kills you

It’s not the fact we were beaten by the better team on the day. Its because we are always built up teetering on the verge of something and they always let you down. It’s been like this now for many many years.

It really winds me up when we have the same shat spouted by our players… we must do better etc…. Feck me YES every man and his dog know this ….. so don’t talk the talk feckin do it on the pitch.

Yeah I get we are not as good as we think we are but it should not stop us putting in genuine effort in games win lose or draw…… but no we always go down without a whimper.

As I say it’s the hope that kills you…..

Oh well a draw is good too.

However our games in a row against….Newcastle, city, gooners and pool will feck us over regardless so I guess That’s that then.

It looks bad on paper but I have hope that we will raise our game against the bigger teams. Our worst results this season have come against mid-table teams - Chelsea, Fulham, Brighton, so against Arsenal, City and Liverpool I feel it won't be as bad as yesterday. Maybe even a win against one of them. Not confident about that but I wouldn't be surprised either.

Yeah agree we are more than capable of getting a result against the big boys on our day but I feel not many of the current crop have it in them or the minerals to actually do it. If I were in a fight I think only one who I would trust to stand by me and slog it out would be Romero. The test come across as weak powder puff types who would run to the hills.

I really do hope they prove me wrong and I can eat my words.

Villa have City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea every second game. Plus away to Brighton. Hopefully they can’t get any momentum going with that run of fixtures.

I wouldn't rule out Utd out either but they have to play Woolwich, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and Brighton. Their other games are winnable. You never know.

It was the same when we played Man City earlier at their place. We were in the experiencing our run of losses during the injury crisis but somehow we then pulled out a good performance and draw against a team that you'd think might have given us a beating.

Often happens when you expect the worst against the in form teams and then it ends up not quite as bad as you think. From the players' perspectives, if they perhaps took Fulham for granted, they won't do the same against the top teams. It's why I have a little more faith that we won't just be blasted away by those teams.

Yes Palmers just posted similar on my article. The whole “we must do better” and “take a long hard look at ourselves” well yeah!

How we go from that Villa performance to that in a week is truly beyond me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Truth is we caught Villa on 3 days from a match and they did tire in the second half. That 4-0 was flattering to us, we're not that good.
Secondly, we missed a key defender against Fulham, I've been saying this all season, vdv is critical to Aussieglue's way of playing the high line.
Thirdly, Fulham are a better team than their league position would indicate.
Finally, we must win the Luton, West Ham, and Forest upcoming games......otherwise I will question our manager's tactics. I'm hoping he shows us he can adjust his thinking to different situations, in the game and in the squad.personnel. And I must admit I do not know aanoter manager I would prefer ATM.

Now that Villa have drawn with WetSpam, we are in some kind of position to challenge again for 4th place, since we have a game in hand. And that 3-0 may haunt us because our GD is 17 to Villa's 18.
