International break so rumours are rife in the UK media (I know) that Jim has already made his mind up about the future of Erik Ten Hag at United. That basically he hasn't got one.
Apparently (LOL).... Jim has compiled a list of preferred replacements for Erik that includes the likes of Graham Potter, Ruben Amorim and Thomas Tuchel and is headed by Jim's personal favourite, Gareth Southgate. In fact it's reported that Gareth has been contacted by Jim's people already and been offered the United job starting in the summer and United are now awaiting his decision. Southgate's close relationship with Dan Ashworth being the deal maker. If true, INEOS it seems, are not very confident that Erik can achieve CL qualification and regardless of how far he can take United in the FA Cup, it cant come as a surprise to Ten Hag that without securing the CL you are usualy a dead duck as manager of Man United.
Not great reading if you are Eric Ten Hag.
Anybody really think Erik can (not should) survive without CL qualification even if we win the Cup and would Southgate really be a step forward, post Ten Hag?
Is Gareth really gonna be next?

All the sensible reporting says INEOS is all about appointing best in class sporting administrators to run an innovative, highly professional operation in which the sporting director defines the playing style and appoints coaches and oversees player recruitment to fit this philosophy. Meanwhile, the likes of the Daily Star report 'Sir Jim wants Southgate'. I'd say it's very premature to decide that all the stuff about letting professionals make decisions that they're better qualified to judge is empty bluster.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do we know that about the sporting director, though? I suspect there will be some collaboration with Berrada, Brailsford and Ratcliffe.
Even reading up on Ashworth it seems he’s about connecting all the departments to meet the club’s remit, rather than having the authority to dictate transfer policy, then choose the players and manager to fit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, I think it's fair to assume that the higher-ups will be part of the conversation, but the way Ratcliffe has talked about it suggests the choice of manager will proceed from a more fundamental process of defining the playing style, which the sporting leadership not yet in place will be actively involved in. You'd also very much hope that while non-football specialists like SJR and Brailsford might get to frame the footballing philosophy of the club, you'd hope that more technically versed figures would have the bigger say in identifying the coaches who best fit that vision.
For reference, here's what Ratcliffe said in his interview in February, when asked whether the playing style will be dictated by the coach or by the likes of Brailsford/Ashworth:
"We’ll decide, that team of people, it’ll be us, plus the CEO, sporting director, probably the recruitment guys what that style of football is and that will be the Manchester United style of football. And the coach will have to play that style of football."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It sounds like there will be a fair bit of discussion between them all on these big decisions. It’ll be interesting to see how these things develop if, and when, we’re in a position to start challenging for major honours. In that respect, I think the whole issue regarding style of play and managers having to fit that become a bit more difficult because if you really want to start winning big trophies, you may not be able to get someone that can achieve that as well as playing the style of football they want.
People talk about City and Liverpool but they were fortunate enough that they could get world class managers that could win in the manner they wanted, not everyone has that luxury and timing is such a huge thing to consider as well.
It’s refreshing to see some of the actions taken and the communications they’ve made public so far, though. A far cry from the crap we’ve seen from the Glazers.

Ok ok, let’s entertain the idea for a min… is it cos, Southgate is more of a puppet manager, that will follow a directive rather than wanting full autonomy like Ten Hag?
Cos if the Director of football is the one to set out the style and vision, then why isn’t Potter in the running, and in that regard a far better option than Southgate?

So maybe this is all a ruse, cos I bet most fans would prefer Potter to Southgate… then we just had the wool pulled over our eyes, and before we know it, Potter’s installed.
‘Well at least it isn’t Southgate… we got Potter… ?? wait, we actually have POTTER?!

I dont think any United supporter want either tbh. Im sure Jim knows this too. I dont believe that Jim would do actually be stupid enough to instalk either of them 2 as his grand plan to save Man united. You are right, the press are just having a bit of a laugh at United thats being going on for 10 years. Jim needs to make it clear what his intentions are and as soon as. Which will.probably when its not possible to qualify for the CL.

Yeh, and I think you’re right there aboot Champions League, but again, the cynic in me, says that the Press/Media pundits all know the timing of this…
This would never of come out if it wasn’t for the International break, where nobody is around to shut it down. Suddenly on Monday there was a good vibe at UTD, but they had to crap on it with this foolishness.
I mean, for example, Klopp, he’s gotten away with murder.. ok to be a sore loser, but taking yer frustration out on a guy doing his job, and the question in question wasn’t even that bad..
And why not question Klopp for playing a strong side for 90 mins in a dead rubber game in Europa?
Nah, don’t wanna do that, Klopp on his farewell tour, and they got to rub his ego and build his legacy like it’s on par with SAF, and Pep, when really he’s aboot the same level as Wenger.

Bit unfair on Wenger, String. He won three league titles and numerous cups. Klopp’s more on par Mancini, Pellegrini, Ranieri, Ancelotti and Conte.

Good manager, for the first 8 years and declined for the next 10. Going trophy less 8 straight seasons.
Then trying to spin into the culture that ‘finishing 4th deserves a Trophy’ ?? Coming from the man that had won 3 Titles, yeh, he knew his goose was cooked..
I believe there’s a good debate to be had who was the better/succesful manager out of Wenger and Klopp.
And I put Klopp just above Wenger
