What's his best position?
Tackles like Kante, but glides like Ronaldinho.
Open to ideas?
Kobbie Mainiesta.

Some of his play in the 1st half is something we’ve missed probably since Anderson was good.

If I am honest I reckon I have enjoyed about 4% of our games in the last 5 years.
As a non-paying, non-match going armchair fan, I am disgusted.

The 4% that's featured on Alternative Comms is great value though.

If Southgate takes over, I might view all matches through the prism of the Alternative Comms heartburn

I read an interesting opinion over the weekend that suggested Mainoo's greatest strength at the moment - his press resistance - is probably more valuable in club football than international. The rationale goes that international football is a bit slower paced, teams don't press as aggressively, tend to be a bit more reliant on low blocks, so the ability to be calm on the ball under pressure / wriggle away from attempted tackles isn't such a critical skill. That's not to say that Mainoo doesn't have other capabilities that will come to the fore in due course, but it's probably thing that differentiates him at the moment. So there's a possibility that he'll get a run of England matches and people will be a bit underwhelmed by lack of impact, unless the lack of pressing immediately gives him a platform to display incisive passing.
(The same dynamic was I think why Pogba tended to look more valuable playing for France than United, where his tendency to lose the ball under pressure was less exposed and where he had a better platform to showcase his incredible passing.)
