Does he get a bit disrespected, given how good he was for Arsenal and Chelsea? People don't seem to really talk about him as a true EPL great, yet the likes of Evra, Robertson and Clichy are brought up very often in that discussion when Cole had a better career than all of them. I remember in the late noughties a lot of talk was about Evra being better than him, but to me Ashley Cole was always far superior.
He was no doubt a bit of a clown off the pitch with all his bedroom athletics behind Cheryl's back, plus forcing a move to Chelsea, but on it I can't really remember seeing him have a bad game. It should be noted, too, that whilst England always disappointed at tournaments and world class players looked awful he still was fairly good for us in those games.
The way he performed for Chelsea when they won the UCL was probably some of the best levels i've ever seen.
Ashley Cole:
Underrated and disrespected or neither?

Cole was part of the "golden generation" that did nothing for england. Even if he was good, he was good as a traditional left back, which basically meant nothing in the midst of England's disappointments

He’s the best LB in the world of the last 25 years. Maybe the GOAT. Can’t think of anyone better than him.

Strange article.
Even the Spurs fans I know generally accept Ashley Cole as one of the best ever left backs in English football.

I’d personally say he’s the GOAT of the LB position myself. Easily the best.
