Going to be really tough, Difficult tie in the Conference, and probably fourth or fifth place to play for.
Wasn't the best draw getting Lille, especially with the injuries around, the way we play ideally need a minimum two goal lead to take to France.
IMO Uni got it right on Wednesday, although he was limited with what he could do and to an extent we got away with it. Losing 4-1 under the circumstances could have been far worse. And other results went favorably.
We do need Watkins, Cash and Ramsey back as soon as they are fully ready and SJMG is back on the weekend.With Toney back Brentford looked their old selves last weekend.
Any villa supporter should be proud of what we have done so far this season even though we have tailed off a bit recently, but lets hope from now to the season end we can get the necessary results.
Haven't looked at the remaining fixtures excluding the top three but you would need maybe 3-4 wins out of 7 to guarantee to finish top 5.With the current gap maybe only 2, but someone always seems to go on a good run at the end.
On current form we may just miss out on the fourth place, but it could still happen.
Whether its Champions League or Europa then great, the latter possibly as more to our level at the moment.To get neither we certainly would have blown it.

I've had a good at the fixtures for yourselves and Spurs and being honest, I think you've got a bloody good shout of sealing 4th. You've got some tough away games to Brighton and Palace but really you've only got two of the top six left. We've still got to play...

Arsenal home
Chelsea away
Liverpool away
City at home
so 5 of our last 8 are really really tough fixtures. I always said that in order to get ahead of you, we needed a buffer going into these run of fixtures. We don't. We're 2 points behind albeit with a game in hand.
I'm torn about the CL. We need the money to rebuild and attract players but now teams can't drop into the Europa League anymore, I'm not sure there's any gain. We can't win it but we can with the Europa. Same goes for Villa. It's a strange one. We've been conditioned into believing the CL is the holy grail but it's not if you're just making up the numbers.
If it helps us recruit well then fine but let's not kid ourselves. It's too early for both teams to be qualifying for it. Look at Newcastle. Battered and they've taken two steps back. I'll be happy just to be back in Europe, which both sides are pretty much guaranteed now.

I just checked and can confirm that it is funny. People mistake top 4 for meaning CL qualification and don't realise that 5 into 4 doesn't go. They then proceed to answer the question, without realising it's an impossible scenario. It works on so many levels. But mainly only that one. It shall be continued for the foreseeable.

Genuinely can’t understand Spurs fans interest in getting Champions League? Zero chance of progress in the knockout stages anyway.
On the other hand, they could have a real chance of getting to the final of the Europa before bottling it and Spursing it up.
