We should easily be able to bring in £100m in sales this Summer, and shave £1.5m per week off the wage bill.
That, a new shirt sponsor, plus owner investment if necessary should mean we can still spend well again this Summer.
Any particular targets you would go for?
I personally think we need at least a CB, CM and CF.

RDD vs McWinston has quite wonderful potential.

The RDD penny had actually dropped a few comments before getting to this one, but it's good to read confirmation. The replies were just getting too stupid.

Robbing spends every day of his life logged into this forum often arguing for hours on the same subject…
… and then writes this stuff.
The lack of self awareness is staggering.

Not being an apologist for raaape = sensitive.

He wasn't even accused of rape, let alone guilty of it.

I accused him

Oh, I’m sorry. Didn’t realise you knew him.

We've been notoriously abysmal at selling players for good money.
The fact David Beckham is still in the top 5 transfer fees OUT for our club says everything. How long ago was that now? 21/22 years?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you do realise the team that will be buying and selling players is completely different now, yeah?

Just for bantz where is the £100m easily coming from?
There’s Bruno and who?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lindelof or Maguire, AWB, VDB, Casemiro, Sancho, Rashford, Greenwood, Pellistri, Antony
There are plenty of players that should be up for grabs that could bring in £100m
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not being funny, but United pay huge wages.
Who's going to want to match the wage demands of players under contract who've underperformed or in some cases barely even featured? It's something every club will take into account when sitting down to negotiate a deal.
Either you sell at knockdown prices to compensate for the wages, or in some cases you might even need to release players just so you can get them off your books.
Take Rashford, for example. As much as his nominal transfer value says €60M (transfermarkt), his wages have been reported at anywhere between £300k-375k/week, and he's under contract until 2028.
Who's going to offer him that sort of wages, that Rashford would actually be willing to join, and stump up that kind of fee to go with it?
Do you think Rashford will accept to lower his wage demands by 30% or more just to please United? Is he going to say, yeah, I'll give up on millions of pounds that I'm guaranteed by contract, just so United can fetch a feee close to my valuation?
Think twice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Players dont HAVE to demand the same money when moving on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, they don't - but your starting argument to allow the club to raise the funds would require many or most of the top earners to willingly taking pay cuts. This is much less likely unless they agree large signing on fees with their new clubs, which will in turn restrict their ability to pay large fees.
If United's main priority is to alleviate the wage bill, then it seems more likely that they be willing to release these players or accept knockdown fees for them.

As IOAG says, I think that’s unlikely.
The other aspect is that you’ll still need a 23 man squad. There are 9 or 10 players there, that even if they say they’ll leave (which I doubt in at least half those cases) you still need a squad of 23 do that means replacing them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We disagree. No problem. Let's just see.
Onana. Bayindir.
Shaw.
Martinez, New CB, Maguire, Kambawala.
Dalot, AWB.
Mainoo, Mount, McTom, Bruno, new CM.
Sancho, Garnacho.
Amad, New winger.
New CF, Hojlund.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well there are only 20 players there and you’ve listed half as being sold to raise funds
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When has he let minor issues like that get in the way of arguing for argument's sake?

Our biggest earner this summer will be the savings on wages. It’s going to be substantial.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As it has to be.
This, from the MEN just a couple of weeks ago:
Premier League clubs ranked by weekly wage bill (data provided by Capology)
1. Man Utd - £3,821,000 per week
2. Man City - £3,705,000 per week
3. Arsenal - £3,298,000 per week
4. Chelsea - £2,978,000 per week
5. Liverpool - £2,670,000 per week
6. Aston Villa - £2,135,000 per week
7. Tottenham - £2,130,000 per week
8. West Ham - £1,833,000 per week
9. Newcastle United - £1,638,000 per week
10. Everton - £1,524,000 per week
11. Crystal Palace - £1,408,000 per week
12. Fulham - £1,288,000 per week
13. Nottingham Forest - £1,283,000 per week
14. Brighton - £1,165,000 per week
15. Bournemouth - 973,000 per week
16. Brentford - £836,000 per week
17. Wolverhampton Wanderers - £830,000 per week
That suggests you really do need to shift some of the biggest earners, and that's inevitably going to mean taking a hit on potential transfer fees.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That would be reduced by 25% straight away thanks to no CL, which would put us about 4th in the list, then we have Varane, Amrabat, Martial, maybe Eriksen leaving, which puts us around 5th.
Then there will be sales, potentially including big earners like Casemiro, Sancho, Maguire.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fine. That was in the framework of the discussion about the wage bill, and not really relevant to United's need to let go of the top earners.
Don't forget that those provisions are applied in the event of missing out on CL, and they're intended to dampen the blow of the reduction in income. They don't suddenly free up transfer funds; they're factored in to compensate the drop in revenues.
Players still have all kinds of other add-ons to their contracts, which include bonuses for wins, goals, assists, clean sheets, and the likes. Failing to qualify for the CL doesn't automatically reduce bonus payments to zero.
Once again though, this pertains to wage bill reduction, not incomes from transfer fees.

OP is correct. United do need a new spine to the regular team. Plus a couple more stuck at the sides.
United also mainly need a different manager that we have at the moment.

2 seasons. 1 bad. 1 good, with mitigating circumstances.
Lack of credible candidates.
Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox need time to asses the club before making a huge decision like new manager or not.
Let him at least start the next season.
