Call me reactionary and I know I’ve been on the fence on this but I think we should give ETH one more season.
Yes, this season has not been good enough. He can blame injuries as much as he wants but United should not be finished 8th with 14 defeats and a minus goal difference but he has one year left on his deal so we don’t have a huge amount to lose.
One more year with someone else in charge of the signings.
My reasoning is that none of his potential replacements are that exciting imo.
McKenna has done great at Ipswich but the it’s too soon for him to get the United job imo. Let him carry on with Ipswich or take a mid table PL job 1st and maybe he can be our manager some day.
Pochettino hasn’t done a great job at either PSG or Chelsea. Did well at Spurs but can’t help feeling he’s not right for us.
Tuchel. Reminds me slightly of a past his peak Mourinho. Will do ok in the short term, solidify the team, good cup runs but it will eventually go stale.
De Zerbi. I don’t why but I don’t see him doing well at a big club.
Thomas Frank. See De Zerbi.
Southgate. In Roy Keane’s voice, do me a favour.

De Gea had decent passing ability when we first signed him, absolutely regressed throughout the years though. Makes you wonder how he was Spanish.

True, but better in everything else. Quite a lot better too. Both keepers capable of a calamity, but so far that crown is onana’s.

Awful on pens too, and flat out refused to come off his line in any situation
That being said, neither could lace VDS or Schmeichel’s boots

But key difference is he didn't face as many shots. He had enough protection in front. Saying, that in some games especially at the Emirates he was often peppered with shots, single handedly winning us games. He was a freak of a GK though, excelling in shot stopping but with big deficiencies for a modern GK. The DDG we saw in his final season simply had to go.
Can we do better than Onana? Without doubt. But with so many gaps/ deficiencies in the team/ squad to address he'll do for now.

I don't see how this is a defence of Onana when he's letting in ones he should save like today.
Why would facing 10 shots prior to the one City scored from mean he couldn't get a proper hand to the ball and push it beyond his post?
I can understand a GK maybe making mistakes from crosses if he's being peppered with all sorts in his six yard box as sometimes it can be a very marginal call whether to come out to try and punch or catch the ball versus staying on the line. But saving a shot that is close enough to save shouldn't be impacted by having faced X amount of shots prior. If anything, being busy should help shot stopping. We've seen in the past that one of the big hurdles GK's going from smaller clubs to bigger clubs face is the amount of activity they face declines and it's a test of their concentration to be ready on the few occasions they're needed versus being more busy at a smaller or less good team.
But that doesn't apply to Onana. That he's facing a lot of shots should mean he's at least switched on at all times and sharp.

Ali, clear difference, and you'd notice why I targeted FRANKO if you had any intelligence. Prior to the match he proclaimed there was little reason to watch Utd because he saw nothing but a cricket score. Monleeds of all people said Utd had every chance, he's the biggest anti Utd poster around.
If a non Utd supporter has more faith than a match going fan it baffles me why Franko follows Utd. Find another interest. Same goes for you. You're both idiots cut from the same cloth. As I said you've been dealt a bad hand, you can't help being the way you are!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your the weirdest internet troll on this site Vegeance, I have a lot of fun and banter with various posters on here for a laugh but your just a wound up Sphincter always looking for some prolonged argument.
I just bought two seasons tickets, I’m a match going fam my dedication to the club is far deeper than yours and many people share my opinion of you which is why you have been previously banned and often filtered for being a tedious annoying tw@t.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And you're a pathetic "season ticket holder". If you're the best of our fanbase I despair, thankfully you're not!
Utter moron.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We, (pathetic 'matchgoers and Season Ticket Holders' who were lucky enough to be chosen to be able buy a ticket, and those who were not so lucky, of which Franko is one of us) were absolutely magnificent. Best atmosphere I have have been part of at the new Wembley in one of the many Cup Final Ive been to since the bad, good old days.

Interesting how your opinion on him is now swaying from him being this amazing modern keeper to "he'll do for now".
