Luke Shaw vs Ten Hag

If somehow Ten Hag does end up staying - which I think we’ll know either way this week - he needs to sack his medical team. We’ve seen Martinez played to the point of breaking and now Shaw has come out and said this …

“I felt something against Aston Villa (February 11) and came off at half time,’ said Shaw, revisiting the source of the problem.

‘It’s kind of everyone’s fault. Partly my fault, partly medical staff, I think everyone would admit that. I didn’t train the whole week. The scan came back and there wasn’t too much there. But I didn’t train all week, then trained the day before the game. If the manager asks me to play, I’m never going to say no. I shouldn’t have played."

Now I’m being a bit sensationalist with the headline. Hey, it’s me 😘 but Ten Hag or the medical staff or the club etc really needs to stop this culture of making players play when they’re at breaking point. We already saw Ole break Rashford and now we’re seeing other players play when not ready.

UTD players playing too many games is a huge factor in last seasons injury crisis imo

Ten hags 1st season included a winter World Cup in a season where utd went deep into all cup competitions and finished in the top 4. All this followed by a money grabbing pre season tour of the USA as well as friendlies in Scotland, Ireland England and Denmark (I thnk).

City won the treble and didn't get anywhere near as many as we did this past season so I don't think we can use that excuse.

Like just other things, the injuries we suffered will.be down to a number of different factors.

Bad luck, poor rehab, rushing back, poor diagnosis.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I bet there’s bee numerous times where this has happened with Shaw and he has got injured again and also not been injured. His body is just unreliable, and like most players he’s never going to be 100% clear of injuries and will always play through them. Bit of a diiiiick move by him to blame the medical staff for him thinking he was ready to play.

Squad depth and strength particularly if city is going to be used as a yard stick

It's not an excuse, it's a reason

But it wasn't a huge factor for the team that played just 1 less game than we did the season before the one that's just finished. That's the point.

We've not rotated enough when we had the opportunity to and I suspect that we aren't as good as City are in the physio and sports science department either.

Some of the injuries have been bad luck but some just seem careless to me.

SE85 using city as a benchmark is too funny
