Let's not forget RM has been getting back with his missus and probably takes guts to patch it up than proceed with the divorce. A lot in his head and it is brutal out there all alone with the world watching.

The putt on 18 was trickier than people have been making out. He aimed a full cup left and it still lipped right.

The true error was the putt on 16 as that was basic but he smashed it, and then the other two errors was over clubbing the par 3 and taking driver on 18.

He blew it but it's the best he's played in a major for a long time.

When did he last win a major? Must be around 10 years.

He picked up his last 2 majors in 2014...........incredible to think he's not had one since.
I'm sure they mentioned in commentary, that he's been top 10 in majors since then in about 50% of tournaments. It shows consistency, but very often one bad early round gives him too much to do. He hasn't been what I would call in true contention in a lot of them, and certainly not to the extent that he was last week.

I can understand why he was tentative on 18 with that putt, but he just needed to hit it a little bit more positively to lessen the break, but by then the nerves were really jangling. The missed putt on 16, it just really unravelled from there. Rory will be kicking himself so much, but the Gods were with Bryson

It's not about me but this was McIlroy's first missed putts inside the three-feet mark this season, having holed all 496 previous attempts throughout 2024.

Think we can all agree Rory is Elite compared to a weekend slasher like me.

He folded under pressure. It happens but he has won more than his fair share of comps in the past to get over the line.

No excuses, he choked.

First under 3 foot putt he's missed all season in over 285 attempts.

The guy made up a 3 shot deficit to get in contention and played to 4 under.

He did do amazingly well on one of the toughest golf courses ever.

A massive shame for him. He is one of.the most talented ever. That putt will haunt him for ever.
