Calvert-Lewin

I see he’s possibly off to Newcastle for £35 million. Is he someone we should be going for? He’s got PL experience over Zirkzee and offers us an aerial threat we currently don’t have. Is he world class? Nope but he’s cheap, English and knows how to score in the PL.

Is Ten Hag prioritising Zirkzee because he’s Dutch? Who knows. But imo DCL is a canny option to bring us something different and we might see him doing well at Newcastle and wishing we’d brought him in.

He's the type of player that teams try to offload not sign for 35m

No. Our medical staff are overworked enough.

He has only scored 14 Premier league goals in the last 3 seasons
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He has a couple of injury laden seasons plus plays for Everton. As a bench option for us i think he’d be decent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If there’s a bench in the treatment room the he’d certainly find a place on that.

One of the biggest things we must get right in the market going forward is paying far more attention to injury records than we have done previously.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m operating under the logic that players get injured once they join us but magically ones that who were injury prone before joining us stay injury free.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This might work had DCL not been injury free for a fair while now. He's absolutely nailed on to injure himself walking through the doors at Carrington now.

No he’s a crock and not even that good. Would be another foolish move.

We either go for young up and coming talent with a great potential to improve, or someone who is really proven at a high level.
For me DCL fits into neither category, but represents a middle of the road buy which is not really what we need right now.
And of course trhe injury record is off-putting

More job security for the medical team and he would be company for that Dutch FB we signed who's name escapes me.

After a long rehabilitation, Malacia is apparently nearly ready to start training again in preparation for his next injury.

DCL simply isn’t very good at football. He’s got a great spring but take that away and his technique is championship standard.
