A conundrum

What have John Lennon, Paul Weller, Sting, Harry Styles, Lionel Richie, Ice cube and Syd Barrett done that the Scottish football team haven’t ?

I wasn't convinced it was a penalty, it seemed that Armstrong blew the chance and was trying to engineer a foul. However, I do see the point of view that the defender was clumsy and would understand if it was given.

Surprised it didn't even seem to be checked by VAR.

It was a pen

But also, Armstrong was massively looking for it when he could have just got a faaacking shot off
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Looking for it or not, it was a pen all day long. Mbappe, Kane, Ronaldo, Morata, any German cant that’s given every single time, no arguments. We were pash overall and deserved fook all, but that decision is an absolute shocker.

Nah. He jumped in front of the defender to ensure there was contact. He almost jumped backwards. Defender is running and can't suddenly stop dead because an opposition player has jumped in front of him. Armstrong should have looked to get the shot off and for what he deserved.

Fwck off. Not even half decent wummery there

“jumped in front of the defender”. Sakes man

I watched the video back in the BBC website about 10 times. The movement that Armstrong makes isn't natural. He deliberately jumps in front of the defender to ensure that there is contact. As I said, he almost stops/goes backwards. He had the chance to score and make history for his country and opted to try and buy a penalty instead. I've no sympathy for him really.

And that’s your evidence that it’s not a penalty?

Wow

Yeh. Watching something with my own eyes is my evidence. What else did you expect?

The jump he makes doesn't look natural to me and I can see why the ref didn't give it. He slowed his run and jumped in front of the defender. He was looking for the penalty.

I would have liked to have seen Scotland qualify for the knockout stages. It would have been a great party for all your incredible fans. But I really don't think that the penalty claim was as nailed on as has been made out. And I have to say that I was disappointed with how Clarke approached the match. And I will probably be saying the same about Southgate tonight too!

Agree with all that except of course the “penalty”.

Ever thought of joining the SPFL VAR panel? You’d fit right in

I had my doubts about it being a pen after the first couple of replays but it was when Shearer pointed out the knee into his leg that convinced me it was a pen, that sorta contact in the box is usually always given, we didn't get it and that's nippy asf but it is what it is and might not have held on but you never know?
