Its back in the news again.
We already have the Emirates Old Trafford 2 mins away (Cricket ground) and obviously City and Arsenal have sold their naming rights.
Barcelona are apparently making 70m Euros per season from Spotify. Crazy money but I'd imagine we could easily match that if not beat it given the exposure our league has compared to La liga.
I don't think we can afford to turn up our noses at that kind of money personally given the Glazer debt. New stadiums aren't cheap either of course so every little will help and 70m + a season coming in will surely
make the accounts look healthier.
How we continue to service the Glazer debt, pay off a new stadium and still try to remain competitive in the market without this money just seems a bit pie in the sky to me.
I just hope if it it happens that Old Trafford is still kept as part of the name similar to 'Spotify Camp Nou'.
Naming rights to potential new stadium

Did Spotify know Barcelona were going to redevelop the stadium for 2 years when they agreed to the naming rights?
Surely they're not paying while the stadium isn't being used?
No issue with us getting a naming rights sponsor, everyone will still call it Old Trafford.

I still often call The Emirates Stadium, Highbury .. Tottenham WHL and The Council House, Maine Road without thinking. The new Goodison Park has got no chance. Has that even got a name yet
Dontvthink they will ever change for me.

Depends if Jim the scrounger gets the tax payer to pay for it or not. If so should set up a poll to see what they want to call it. Looking forward to the Stady-mcStadyface Arena

I used to be someone who felt that the name of the stadium should not be sold at any cost.
However, from a business perspective, it's a no brainer if we are serious about making tangible improvements to the facilities. The name doesn't bother me anymore, it will always be called Old Trafford in my mind.

I don't want a new name. Why would I?
To make Sir Jim and the Glaziers richer?
Old Trafford has a nice ring to it.

It will make the football club richer and help us compete whilst also upgrading our stadium.
If you can find other way to raise the money required I'm all ears.

Do you think A field will change their name? Because I don't

Maybe we can get sponsorship with a certain washing powder brand so the stadium can be known as 'Bold Trafford'. Not too much of a change in name then.

Anfield is one of the best stadiums in the country right now. Why would they knock it down.
