Thoughts from today

Joseph gets the nod ahead of Bamford, Piroe in number 10 role, no real surprises.

WBA full of possession and looking like its going to be a long day for us.

Bogle looks very very suspect and after early yellow card, thought he'd be really targeted for rest of match but he was let off the hook.

Commentary team spot on about us not scoring goals from midfield last season and it doesn't look any different this season, we caused almost no threat at all.

Free kick and corner delivery doesn't help, even though Struck did have a headed chance, overall, I struggle to remember any chance we had on target.

Gnonto was working hard albeit in a deeper position whilst James was very quiet, a shadow of teh player from last season and with these two not getting possession upfield there was simply no service for Joseph who wasnt doing a great job of holding ball up and not looking like the striking solution we need.

Talking of strikers, Piroe was playing number 10 but utterly ineffective, couldnt hold ball up, couldnt get range of passing right, indeed our passing today all round was very poor and it made for a very poor match, summed up by Ampadu throw in that went straight out second half.

Aarsonson comes on, might as well not have done, hardly touched the ball and Rothwell just looks so slow and off it that its like signing Weston Mckennie;s brother.

Harsh I know but if he is so good you would expect to see something but him and Bogle look bang average at best.

Ultimately its a point won, but I dont see where the goals are coming from and though our defence was raved about we were cut open a few times, didn't tank Albion were that good up top except for fellows who seemed really lively.

We have clearly moved from the man bun era to the bleach top era, although Aaronson's yellow Alice band was a nod to past glories without having the quality to deliver a renaissance and Stuart Dallas in studio with a Klich tribute haircut was clearly trying to help.

So, a fighting performance albeit devoid of quality, but really nice to see us playing in yellow when away from home.

Farke needs to have a rethink about his system. Piroe is being completely wasted in that role.

As previously stated, no idea where the creativity is going to come from without Rutter. This is compounded when James & Gnonto fail to turn up.

And seriously why even bother bringing Bamford on? Waste of a substitution.

My word there is some serious work to do at the club in the near future, both on & off the pitch. Absolute joke that we haven't learnt the lessons of last season. Sickening.

Question, not just from today but from last season as well, what are people's opinions/thoughts about Ampadu?

Better at centre-half for me.

I missed the whole game as was flying home. Was actually pleased when the result came through as we landed as was honestly fearing the worst.

A good point in the circumstances and a clean sheet away to a decent opponent will do wonders for the confidence.

Phoney9ers need to pull a marquee signing or two out of the bag this week. Chair? Whittaker? Clarke? Nothing to back up these names, just throwing them out there.

It will be the boost that we and the squad need to build on what is unbelievably a better start than last season including a point at the Hawthorns that we didn't get last year.

Trying to be glass half full but over to those with the chequebook to make it a positive week.

Have a good rest of weekend all.

Gruev kills this midfield

It was quite shocking to see the lack of attacking football, and how bereft of ideas they were.

A good point all in all, in a game between to boring teams, unable to create much, if anything at all

Yeah we need a replacement for Gruev James and Piroe. Those playing today were attack killers.

Bogle struggled at first but then improved. Thought defensively we were decent today. Just we never looked like creating a decent chance. Surely there has to be 2 signings by the start of the next game.

^^^

He improved when Farke went 3 at the back and
pushed Firpo and Bogle forward as wing backs.

No that's a cop out, I'm asking for an assessment of Ampadu. If I asked you to rate Meslier you wouldn't rate his skills in relation to Darlow surely, you would rate his strengths and weaknesses as a unique human being.

I genuinely think Amps is over rotating due to the
arm band. Huge responsibility. He's a solid player.
Let him figure this out and then we will reap the
benefit. Right now, I think he's trying to do too much.

Club has been gutted. It's understandable.

Caveat - I'm biased. Half Welsh.
