Ivan Toney

Where’s he gonna go? He could improve us, Arsenal and Chelsea but there seems to be a real lack of moves for him. Supposedly Brentford have lowered his price to around £45-50 million which is imo a good deal for a guy who improves the three teams above. There’s also talk of Saudi clubs wanting him but he may as well give up playing for England again if he goes.

For us having him, Zirkzee, Hojlund and Rashford would be a very good set of strikers of various ages and options. Hopefully there’s a move closer to the end of the month once we offload Sancho, McT and perhaps Maguire.

I think that if Toney moves this summer then it will likely be abroad. It doesn't look like anyone in the PL wants him. From what I have heard, a move to Saudi could be worth close to £100m for him. Crazy money for a bloke that has only scored 36 goals in a top league (and only 25 in open play).

If I were him, I'd be taking the money. It'd probably mean an end to his England career, but he has never been first choice there. Imagine being able to retire with that amount of money having played 80% of your career in the lower leagues. Take the money Toney!

I’m not one to encourage good players going to Saudi, for obvious reasons, but for a player like Toney you can understand it when he’s spent so long in the lower leagues. This isn’t like Benzema going there.

Its an absolute lottery win for the bloke. Even if he only goes for 1/2 years he should do it. 4 years ago he was playing for Peterborough! Now he has the opportunity to earn wages that only a tiny percentage of footballers have ever earned and secure his/his family's future. He would be mad not to go if a PL move isn't in the offing.

He's still on the same contract he signed when he went to Brentford in 2020, around the £15k a week mark apparently.

Can't blame him for considering Saudi, given the lack of interest from PL teams.

Rumours are he'd be on £327k a week in SA. It is an absolute no brainer for him. Even if it is for a year, he is set for life.

Hope he’s been doing ok on just £15k a week, poor guy.

Gambling is illegal in Saudi Arabia

"Gambling is strictly prohibited in Saudi Arabia under Islamic law. The country has a strict moral code, and all forms of gambling are considered haram (forbidden). The government enforces this law rigorously, and those found guilty of gambling can face severe punishments, including imprisonment and flogging."

TBF the punishments would be just like signing for Chelsea.

from 15k(8k after tax) to a reported 300k tax free so the equivalent of about 550k per week in England.
