Slot's First

We made a signing...and zero articles, which is a bit of surprise because we probably signed one of the better young keepers around.

If ever there was a succession planning signing...this is probably it, right.

There's a lot of talk about how keepers can play well into their late 30s, which is true but Alisson looks heavier every season for me. I like that we made this move. The collapse of players that aren't physical specimens really does come out of nowhere.

I hope we've discussed Mamardashvili's development with Valencia. He really needs to improve with the ball at his feet and also coming off his line and making himself big (something that Alisson is one of the best ever)

Overall a good signing at a decent fee to kickoff the Slot era.

That’s not at all what I said.

For someone who likes to deal in facts, you’re not dealing in many are you.

No, you said it was common knowledge Edwards left because the club offered new contracts to over 30s(despite him being the one in charge of contracts). Then you said no over 30s were offered new contracts when Edwards was at the club.

Now you're going with Milner only as Salah and VVD were 29 given long term contracts, Wijnaldum refused his new contract and I don't know what happened to Henderson, think you just blanked him or decided Edwards had already stormed out over nobody over 30 being offered new deals, sorry I mean people over 30 being offered new deals.

It's really difficult to keep up here.

I said there is little to nothing to support it actually.

You then listed five players, four of which were wrong, and also missed off Firmino and Matip.

Your list is actually a one year extension for James Milner.

You’re having a bit of a mare here if we’re honest.

Ok let's say I've had a mare and there's only one player.

Now let's look at your two views below.

Edwards left because over 30s were offered new contracts.

Only Milner was over 30 when offered a new contract.

Conclusion: Edwards left because Milner was offered a new contract.

Am I following your views correctly?

Nope. You’re digressing to reinforce a weak point.

It’s a simple list of one. You either accept that or you don’t, it’s up to you.

Nope. I'm just showing you how ridiculous it is to both hold the view that 29 year olds offered long term deals don't count and also Edwards left because of offering over 30s new contracts when there was only Milner.

You can only hold one of these views. I'd suggest your original view was Edwards left as we offered new deals to over 30s, which 29 year olds count within, since they were offered long term deals.

I'd find it strange that your view would be Edwards left because we offered Milner a new deal.

But again, you can't have it both ways, which is it?

Look TOOR, I said there is little to nothing to support it, because there isn’t.

You’ve then posted a load of stuff that is factually incorrect and ended with James Milner being offered a one year extension as the ONLY example. Possibly Wij at a push.

Rather than trying to weasel out if it by trying to move the goal posts and start talking about players being 29, I feel it would be better for you to show a little humility instead and just admit that yes, there’s little to nothing to support the view that no, as a rule, we don’t like to offer players over 30 new contracts.

Just to clarify my view. Edwards left for the reasons ge gave for leaving.

If players are good enough and not suffering repetitive injuries, ie worth tying to new deals, they will be offered deals into their 30s.

So I'll do a new list for you. Players offered new deals into their 30s:-

Henderson
Milner
Salah
VVD
Wijnaldum

Players who decided to leave
Firmino

Players let go due to injury issues
Thiago
Matip

Is this far fetched? Is there anything at all, despite Twatter conspiracies and apparently something Carragher said that goes against both Edwards and the actual new deals? Did Edwards leave because of the hard 30 year old cutoff he wanted to implement when only Milner signed a new contract when 30 or over, when Edwards was in charge of contracts?

Ok so did Edwards leave because he gave Milner a new contract?

Embarrassing for you both, squabbling over totally valueless nonsense on the internet. Nobody will win your argument because neither of you are in possession of the necessary facts to conclude it, so now you are just going through a silly little hubris fuelled pantomime which nobody wants to see played out. You should make friends and talk about something you are informed about.
