The 2nd round of the League Cup is completed tonight, with the draw also tonight. The draw is causing some controversy due to a change in process.
As usual, the clubs in European competition join in the third round. However, due to the formats of the European competitions the draw is "fixed" so the 6 clubs in the CL and Europa are separated. Round 3 will be played over 2 weeks, which clash with the CL exclusive week and the Europa exclusive week so steps have been taken to ensure there are no CL v EL matches. Chelsea are not affected as the Conference League will be played the week after.
Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Spurs and Man Utd will be drawn out first, put in either the home or away slot for the first 6 fixtures. Then the other 26 teams will be drawn, with the first 6 out the hat playing one of the 6 clubs in Europe.
Of course this has caused moans from the rest, who question the fairness of this.

Scrap the Nations League. Nobody gives a rats about it anyway. Young boys and girls don't dream of one day lifting the famous Nations League trophy.
I wouldn't be overly upset if they scrapped international football as a whole though. 😂

Do many other countries have a second domestic club competition?
I can see pro and cons for it - it does give another chance of a trophy. People seem to like to slag off the league cup, until your team gets to the semi and suddenly it becomes important to win it!!! Have they got rid of the 2 legged semis? They should be played at a neutral venue, and not Wembley. Don't like the FA cup semis being played at Wembley either.
