Confirmed: Michael Oliver will referee Arsenal vs Man City on Sunday
Some facts about Michael Oliver:
💰 Olivier was paid £20,000 in 2023 to referee a game in UAE, funded by Man City owner
❌ Kovacic escaped a controversial red card from Oliver the last time the teams played each other
⚠️ Oliver has awarded fewer yellow cards to Man City compared to any of the top 8 clubs
⚽️ Oliver has awarded Man City 11 penalties in games he has refereed
0️⃣ Oliver has never issued a red card against Man City
⁉️ Oliver Showed Martinelli red card sending him off for 2 fouls in 5 seconds
And then wouldn't send off Kovacic cause "he didn't want to affect the game"
🇦🇪 Thanks Howard Webb for helping your favourite club
It’s Oliver v Chite

For a start, my reply came before you started talking about the Riyadh Derbyit was clearly to your message before so not sure why you are trying to divert away / twist this into some weird excuse.
Secondly, as I said, the match Oliver officiated was in Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE. Perhaps the teams flew over there? Or perhaps you are referring to a different fixture?

This comment sums up how I have felt for a long time:
"We have had high profile cases of refereeing corruption in Italy, Spain, and Germany in the last 20 years, and we're led to believe it's different in England? The myth of English exceptionalism is a source of great delusion."
For me, this is not just about Man City in recent years. There were years and years against Man Utd & Chelsea where things were seriously off and also plenty of matches against Liverpool both domestic and when we played them in the CL that seemed off.
When the World's wealthiest people buy into a sport they didn't grow up loving and want to establish themselves as the dominant force / name because that's beneficial to them in many other ways too, then bribery / corruption should be no big surprise to anyone who isn't naive like a young child.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So only the four sides that have been more successful than you in the time frame you've stated. But I don't suppose referees were favouring you in your golden period

I dare you to watch our Invincible season, refs tried to stop us every step of the way and they are also the reason it came to an end.
We've never bought off refs or had 'Northern favours', or rather 'London favours' because as far as I can remember there haven't been any refs from London, or if there have been, a very tiny amount.
Boris, if you can't see with your own two eyes what happened with the Ederson/Odegaard situation then that's a you problem.

He gifted Arsenal an equalizer by calling Walker over, leaving him out of position and didn't let Kovacic get anywhere near play before he allowed that free kick to be taken.
The only reason he gave Trossard 2 yellow cards was because he wasn't allowed to give him 3.

Walker had plenty of time to get back in position and was back in position when the ball was kicked.
Walker was also slow himself to get back in position, his own fault.
Anyway, Oliver did his best for you (like last season not sending Kovacic off for two disgusting fouls, one of which should have been a straight red) by giving Trossard a soft yellow then giving him another for: "kicking the ball away" even though there was less than a second between him blowing his whistle and Trossard making contact and you can clearly see Trossard actually tries to withdraw his foot but he's already gone to strike it before the whistle.

Shirt pulling and kicking the ball away are 2 standard yellow card offences, the foul on its own should have been a yellow anyway.
He knew it was a foul which is why he kicked the ball away, if he thought he was innocent he would have passed to a team mate.
Arsenal excuses deserve a medal for their lameness.

Starting to think you don't actually watch the games, just let your imagination decide what happened.

Yes, I pay all that money for a ticket then place a paper bag on my head.

Trossard did get booked for shirt pulling.
Unless you are referring to the incident that led to his 2nd yellow in which case you would be plane demented.
Anyway…4 games in a row without defeat vs City now. Wouldn’t dread drawing them in the CL if both teams get far enough.
