Thoughts from the game

I was at the game again to day. First off, it was a performance that told me that Ange still has the dressing room, the players are still with him - so a big positive. The response to the goal against was superb.

I did feel it was more of the same though, loads of missed chances, too open at the back and Vic is a great shot stopper but does not instil confidence and loves a mishap.

Son, despite 2 assists, seemed a bit subdued to me today - I still can’t believe he tried to round the keeper rather than shoot.

Great to see big Dom get off the mark, proper tossher article about him on here this week. Brennan with a great finish - fans poured love on him today, which was great. Maddison was brilliant and Kulu was decent also.

Defence - Vic was a real weak link today, great save from the header but he did not instil confidence at all, dicking around and nearly getting caught out, handball that the ref and VAR somehow missed but everyone else in the ground saw, punching a couple of crosses that my dog could have caught.

Overall we’re far too open and a better side would have scored more today.

Brentford couldn’t live with the press - loads of turnovers and we made enough of them count.

Overall very good today, we should win comfortably on Thursday but Ange isn’t out of the woods yet, he needs positive results from the next 2 in the league. The players are definitely with him though, so he has every chance.

Nobody wants to keep sacking managers.

I’m just not sure this is the one to stick by. But time will tell.

Agreed. Every manager needs time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Every manager gets time, and if results aren’t satisfactory, they get sacked.

It’s not rocket science.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is for you. Ange has had one and abit seasons. Three windows so far. Three more to go for me.

Fans need to be patient. Spitting dummies out saying you want a toy every year is child's play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You do you, you don’t get to tell other fans how to behave, and we’ve been more than f*cking patient.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Should be used to it then 😂

Yes I’m very used to no trophies and endless disappointments.

Good report thank you

I’m glad Ange has the dressing room. Absolutely zero point sacking the manager under this regime. Might as well see where it goes.

Thought it was a chaotic performance from spurs. Maybe that was down to nerves. It’s essential that they build in these two wins now. No mishap in Europe, get something at old Trafford and the sceptical fans will get on board again.

It really is a results business now for Ange.

Also disappointed with our current form, or is that not allowed either?

My thoughts were:

I thought Vicario was very encouraging. The first slip-up happens to all keepers who are instructed to play the ball out, if it happens 1 or 2 times a season its fine. It happens to Raya, Alisson and Ederson too.

I also really appreciated him actively working on his biggest weakness, claiming crosses, by being very proactive against one of the trickiest set piece sides in the league.

I thought our pressing was very good but also kind of odd, Udogie was ridiculously good and it was Son's best pressing game (that I've seen) too. We were so destructive on our left - but the right didn't really press to the same extent and I don't know if this is because BJ is a poor presser & Porro isn't anywhere near as good as Udogie or it was instructive so we didn't leave ourselves so exposed.

I thought Maddison put in the best attacking performance I've seen in a Spurs shirt since Kane at the Etihad. Bentancur looked very good as well.

I do still think, much as every other game this season, our dominance didn't translate to the shear quality of chances it fully deserved - as good as we were. There was at least 4-5 times where we didnt get a shot out of a really good attacking opportunity.

Also, what a tackle from Bissouma for the third.

Udogie's counter pressing is so good, it might be his best attribute

If it wasn't for the lack of a clean sheet it would be an almost ideal result. We created loads of chances, Solanke got on the scoresheet, BJ continued his goalscoring, Madders had a great game, Son contributed. We ticked boxes that we needed to.

They did have good chances of their own and Vic despite dodgy moments, made some good saves. Other than that a very positive outcome.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree.
However Solanke's goal was such a simple tapin that I'm yet to be convinced he's up to being our front man.
Must mention Kulushevski positive approach going forward wit the ball on all occasions.

Think Vicario may need a rest.
